not only did I score that acoustic pre but I scored a carver power amp, tuner and pre amp AND AND ANDDDDDD

a pair of jbl L250s that are in roughish shape but they work and they sound soooo fucking good.

jbl 250s were JBLS king speaker in the 80s, and go for 1.5-2k (super clean 3Kish)

total spent yesterday:

186$ for all that shit including the acoustic pre. yup 100$ on a audiophile set up from the 80s. old fuck didnt want it cause it didnt have HDMI

Sweet Jeebus dude, you are the king of quick deals!!!! I love the fact that you mainly focus on old PA cabs to use with bass, I've been chastised for my use of bass amps w/ pedals for guitar since I started playing. (mainly due to an ignorant 14 year old me buying a cheap ass bass amp from the pawn shop with out knowing the difference, but i used an old ibby punk pedal so I couldn't hear a difference until I bought a real guitar amp and didn't like how thin it sounded in comparison)

So I'm looking at options for a new career and had several meeting with a voc rehab counselor. Electrical engineering is looking like a good way to go and based off my test scores they think I'd be good for that. So I may be headed back to school in big way. Lots of good paying jobs in that field and amp building and what not should be a breeze.

Speaking of career changes, I've been strongly considering trying to get a job as a carpenters helper and learning the craft. I have a few local friends who do it and I think with my math skills, love for working with my hands, and desire to create things I will be proud of, I could do relatively well.

Carpentry is so incredibly rewarding. My dad learned carpentry from his father, and I've picked up some of those skills over time as well. There's nothing like the smell of fresh cut lumber and watching something take shape. Just watch your fingers. My grandfather lost his index, middle, and ring fingers on his right hand in a carpentry accident.

On a separate note, skullservant introduced me to Bongripper. Oh man.

I hope it works out. I know it will be a challenge but there's a ton of upside. The Voc rehab program has to approve it and if they do they'll buy all the books, provide tutors if needed. It's a pretty good deal.

You just have to respect the machinery. Don't fear it per se, but respect it. Don't get sloppy and careless.

Oh most definitely, I learned that doing autobody repair. Almost took off a finger a time or two....

Hmmm off the top of my head... Monobrow, Ufomammut (sp? and They might have some vox here n there but mainly instrumental) and Winters in Osaka. I'll have to contemplate some more because I know theres quite a few I'm missing.

Something I've been curious about for awhile now and hopefully you guys can shed some light. On the very beginning of "Dea Artio" by Wolves in the Throne Room, what is making that wall of sound from about 12 seconds to 45 seconds? I figure it's either synth or guitar. If it's guitar, how in the world would you replicate that? It's so pretty, haunting and ethereal.

also, carpentry sucks. not really, it's awesome, but i'm super burned out on it right now. more burned out on running the business i guess than actual carpentry, so yeah, go for it. it's actually a pretty good line of work to get into. it can pay pretty well, is often rewarding, and if you hook up with the right people and play your cards right it can offer a great deal of freedom.

also, i am unfortunately having to sell my marshall jcm 800. another unfortunate thing is that i can't really do paypal right now, so i probably can't really offer it up here, which really sucks, cause i'd like to offer it to you guys. it's an amazing amp. if anyone's local to portland and interested, hit me up. i was doing a lot better financially for a minute there, but it's recently been a perfect storm of bullshit that has just wiped me out.
