Have you tried those with guitar? Seems like a killer price though for the stack

Sadly my lil 2x12 couldnt handle max power so We didnt get to open it up all the way, but what I did get was tonal doomriffic beauty.

Nick doesnt like to brag about his stuff too much, but Ive played 4-5 of his amps so far and this one is really fantastic. The channel blending is a great feature and makes eqing way easy and super versatile. I was in A# standard and it rattled my guys with the volume less than a third up. Good shit for sure :thumb:

I saw this on facebook as well. I swayed long ago to the woodgrain finish on amps, but that amp is a thing of beauty. Such a great overall look, and seriously looks just as good as any production amp out there.

Edit: I'm horrible at typing sometimes. I mean that I almost can't believe that amp is a custom 1- off. It looks so good.

In other news, My friend's electrical has been completely wired up to the light organ he posted this picture last night.

TJ, I feel bad, I forgot to mention how slick that thing looks...now I feel like an asshole. Fuck this thread and it's super speed.
Dog tired in the fast lane, here (that was for all the down fans, oh yeah).

Ok, I need to change my pants after seeing that EGC...

So cap, what are you looking at doing postgrad-wise?
You gonna continue the sort of research you were working on or do you have something else you want to break into?

So I'm looking at options for a new career and had several meeting with a voc rehab counselor. Electrical engineering is looking like a good way to go and based off my test scores they think I'd be good for that. So I may be headed back to school in big way. Lots of good paying jobs in that field and amp building and what not should be a breeze.

Also didn't read back but Tony sent me a message about someone needing an amp. I have two that are kinda extra now. The ACC 150 is in great shape and I have it listed kinda high but would be glad to work out a DR discount.
The other one is the Soundtronics 200 watt wierdo all tube amp I have. This things crazy awesome and sounds really fucking good. Why am I thinking about parting with it? It uses 4 no longer in production 8417's and a 7199. These can still be had but are not cheap. Now that I have the sunn it's kinda redundant and I'd rather take amps that are cheaper to maintain out and about. I'm looking to get 400 out of that thing if it goes.

Hit me up if you want to hear sound clips or know more about either.

pics of the sound tronics?

also have you thought of having the soundtronic modded to accept something more wallet friendly? like el 34s or 88s?

also skip, you will NOT BELIEVE the day I had yesterday. . .

not only did I score that acoustic pre but I scored a carver power amp, tuner and pre amp AND AND ANDDDDDD

a pair of jbl L250s that are in roughish shape but they work and they sound soooo fucking good.

jbl 250s were JBLS king speaker in the 80s, and go for 1.5-2k (super clean 3Kish)

total spent yesterday:

186$ for all that shit including the acoustic pre. yup 100$ on a audiophile set up from the 80s. old fuck didnt want it cause it didnt have HDMI

"you know your speakers are still good so is your power amp"
"if you haul those damn speakers outta here there yours"

Jesus Christ, Whiskey, you are officially the prince of thieves....in a totally not gay, non-Costner kind of way.
You are now also officially in charge of buying me a new amp when I get the dollars together! Congrats!

I agree with all of the above. I do have to say though, Ryan, if we were all as succinct as you, I have a feeling this thread would be about one tenth it's length. That's not a bad thing, I am in awe of your ability to say so much, and type so little. I just waffle.
Totally envious of your wordsmithery.

Just saw someone playing bass through one of those 150s and it sounded awesome. Or maybe it was a 160. Not sure. Either way it sounded great.

They are horrible my man, only an Acoustic in name. I'm pretty sure Guitar Center bought the brand and are just bankin off it.

Yes to the GC sketchballness.

That said, they're not "horrible," but they don't sound great either. Generally they're worth what they go for used.

Something I've been curious about for awhile now and hopefully you guys can shed some light. On the very beginning of "Dea Artio" by Wolves in the Throne Room, what is making that wall of sound from about 12 seconds to 45 seconds? I figure it's either synth or guitar. If it's guitar, how in the world would you replicate that? It's so pretty, haunting and ethereal.

I'd link the vid, but just realized I have no clue how.
