So tonight I saw these guys open up for Darrens band. Was damn fucking good. Much better than it sounds in the thing I'm about to post. Mos Generator was ... well fucking MOS Generator!!!!! Everything bout tonight was good. I also got our new drummer to check this shit out. Dude is amazingly good but needs to hear more live local stuff. I have a feel that he will be joining me more often now. SO MUCH GOOD.

Whiskey. NOOOOOOOOOO. You are wrong. This is what you want.

can be found cheap. I did.

Add your favorite other bigass amp for flavorTRIPHONIC and you are in the same territory power wise, but with all those sweet overtones and harmonics that valves provide. FYI my 200 watt soundtronics is for sale. I love it, and it sounds awesome. I am just afraid of the future costs of keeping something that uses 5 out of production tubes (4x 8417's and a 7199 i think drunk now) Out of production audiophile shit.

I'm thinking I might try and sell my 70's OR120 and get a cheaper amp like a sovtek or something and get like a bunch of 4x12. Yay or nay?

That made me giggle.

dazed, I love al's Om tone. I wish I could make my guitar sound like that, but yeah, it sounds that friggin awesome because there's nothing else there. Interestingly enough, their new lineup features less fuzzage, I'm willing to bet thats due to the presence of more frequencies (voices, instruments? I dunno, other shit that and just bass and drums)

Yeah, I really like the new album. All the new instruments add to the overall character. It is different because it isn't so "direct" so to speak in that it isn't like a single chant but more like a whole ritual.

I have been tossing around in my head a bass fuzz that would have a clean mix kinda like the sparkle drive so that the low end could be let through but still get a good grind. I was figuring on making the dod cause my other guitarist loves them and I figured it would be cool to hear it on the bass. My bass player is kinda whimsical when it comes to pedals. He doesn't use a board, carries the pedals in a tote bag and every practice/show he hooks up whatever he feels like using. Recently he has been consistently using the bass big muff, a tc electronics delay and one other I can't remember at the moment. He has used my rat and a bb bass preamp pedal that I have too but not consistently.

ax, i would love to find a 400 watter bass head for cheaps.

and a meatsmoke would be sooo sexy but almost 3k

almost 3k

almost 3k

if im gonna drop 3k on one amp it will be an electric but at the same time, 3k will but a FUCK TON of 18s and a disgusting power amp to run that shit. . . .

also dazed, tell that bass player to get another bass rig, one for cleans and one for fuuuuuuuuuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

who knows. im mostly just talkin out my ass. ill prolly never go that route ill just keep buying weird ass 60s 70s and 80s cabs and powering them with dusty old tube amps in need of tlc. :animal:

Well those 400's do come up from time to time. I paid $1 a watt for mine. That works for me all day long. I bet Nick could build something specific to you. Cheaper than Verellen, and maybe better. Still spensive. My only beef with the peavey is its almost to much low end and It works best when paired with another amp that fills things out.

As for the 3k, Ive heard a few of these in action now and 3k is ridiculous but its worth it. Those things are so good.

of course we both know the dusty old tube amps are the bomb. :thumb:

I might build him a dod250 at the insistance of my other guitar player so that we can aim for the OM bass tone.

So basically you're telling him to disappear?

That DOD OM bass tone is super dependent on not having guitar in the mix.

Oh, that would not be good at all. Didn't even think about that. Do you guys know of any good bass distortion that would be better? He has the big muff bass but it isn't really tight enough for some parts.

Dazed, I'd have to agree with whiskey, dual rig between a split clean and dirty signal sounds farkin massive! Plus nothing beats the dirty ampeg tube growl for bass dirt, imo.
Dusty old tube amps are what are making me consider running dual sovteks...
crazy, I know.

Double the unreliablilty! :thumb:
Quadruple the fucking volume though.

He actually just brought his bass amp to the space. Before he had been using mine. So we could try a dual amp rig, we have more then enough amps and cabs.

Ok, I couldn't watch that at work today, finally sussed it. She has an amazing voice. I love a strong female voice singing the blues. It is pretty much my number one turn on...that and a husky speaking voice. I don't mean to be a dick and underwrite her talent or the awesomeness of that band, but I cant help it. That shit just cuts me straight to the core. They're friggin great though. Nice to hear a different approach to the Sabbathian teachings.

Also, WINNING SHIT FUCKING RULES!!!
Especially for charity.
Kudos should go to Nick. Big time.

Ok well I guess nows a good time to put it out there. Ive been asked to leave my home. They raised the rent another 100 bucks and said they want me out. Which also means I will likely be losing my business with it. I need to find a new place to live, and a place to work. I dont make hardly enough to pay for an apartment myself, but I also cant handle living with other people so Im kinda fucked right now. also an apartment in my area is like 1200 BEFORE utilities.

Im trying to bust out these last few guitars, and other projects before im out as fast as I can and im freaking out over the whole "my entire lifes falling apart and I have to start over again and Im not ready" thing. Basically I feel like I did when I moved out at 18, i feel like im going in reverse, back to no money and shitty place in the ghetto. Woodworking is the only thing that keeps me alive and out of horrendous depression basically, once thats gone I have no idea what im going to do with myself.

Damn dude.... much mojo sent. As hard as it is in this day and age you unfortunately have to learn how to live with other people. That was the hardest thing for me during my 20's (due to a multitude of different mental instabilities), and I went through a bunch of shitty places before I finally learned what to look for and then found a great group of people to live with. In this current economy its almost impossible to live on your own unless your 200k+ in debt to financial aid, and have a 6 figure job because of it.

Also didn't somebody in that area mention that theres a bunch of co-op's around there? Maybe you can work your way into one of those to keep building guitars and cabs.

Hang in there bro, it will work out. You gotta travel the sands for 40 years to find the promised land. :bear:

The Wood Wizard wrote:PLUS, just got the most huge brutal tone ever....Using a joyo OCD ripoff clone to boost the wizard while running with the ENGL at the same time. A# standard. so good. Always a silver lining!!

NICE!!! I love the Joyo Ultimate Drive, its hard to beat for 40$. Our lead guitar player uses mine as his main tone now and refuses to give it back

Damn dude, no AC in the beginning of june? That's gotta harsh your mellow. As far as the bass tone, I gotta agree the 250 will probably not work out the best, I second the OCD recommendation. If you want grit and cut OCD's work great. I'm hopefully picking up one of Nick's ODB's later this summer, I am excite. OCD + T/B Bax and Depth = :!!!:

CaptainBoxman wrote:Fuck you guys, I just had to read through 10+ pages of doom room.

I got a B+ on my dissertation, just have to wait for my results now. Also, my mega-cunty housemates have all moved out, so I can whack the volume up on my OTR for the next 2 months without any consequences.

Mudda Trukkin congratz dude!!!!!! and hell yeah on being able to finally crank it up. I think your interest in selling or trading the head will dissipate once you can hear it at volume. :thumb:
