Also, I was browsing through Mouser and found that there are a few 10000 cycle trimpots available. You gotta look for them to have a carbon element. Or just check the datasheet.

The CNC wood router is already being used to mill plastic project boxes so technically I could adapt that, too, but I want to be able to cut steel and stuff in the future on a proper CNC mill.

GGG CB-1 build. I just E6000'd the labels on before taking gut shots. Once they set up (24hours) I'll take inner shots.

This is my first attempt at building anything electronic.



GGG forgot to include an LED nor did they provide any specifications in the build literature,...so I bought a bright LED from Radioshack,...and either I reversed the polarity or the resistor in the circuit is not letting enough power to the LED. I'll admit that I'm ignorant to how that works so any enlightenment is appreciated.

Other than that it works,...so I'm excited to have a 90% successful build (sans the LED). I'm going to be putting together a Beavis Board for my next project and start working on my own circuits instead of buying kits.

I also have access to a powder coating setup so I'll probably start doing that instead of just the bare metal finish. This CB-1 looks very home built.

All signs point to this. I expected at least one mistake on my first build. But hey,...no hockey shenanigans on the decorations.

LEDs are a type of diode -- they only let current flow in one direction, among other neat attributes.

The longer leg is almost always the positive leg. (unless it's already clipped or whatever)



Most LEDs are happy at 3V or 5V, so they typically are paired with a resistor to bring the voltage down to a safe range. Typically in a pedal with 9V power, a red LED will take a 470 Ohm resistor. (Give or take some -- people use other close values.) This may already be part of the kit's circuit, so look for that before adding one.
