I'm really crap with colours and artistic design, but I'm sure you'll come up with something that slays.

Hope everything's alright with everyone.

I'm in Brighton, as you know, and have been pretty business... gonna start doing hospital shifts doing cleaning hopefully next Tuesday, so that's good.

Haven't been around, but i'm gonna look a few pages back see what everyone's up to.

We had just found a room which is pretty cool but were gonna have to move because the owner is no longer renting, so i haven't had much time for anything at all, really, but i will try and come more often here when i find a new place.

Love it here......... and GAK!.... fucking GAK!

Glad to hear your safe and sound Marlon. I wish you the best of luck my friend!!!!

Iommic Pope wrote:Well, the thing is I have an unloaded 4x12 in the garage that I need to retolex, by the time I buy speakers though I'm looking at shelling out for a cab again (in aus prices). I was thinking of getting a used orange 4x12 local, which would set me back about as much as the verellan by the time I got it shipped. So thats the dilemma.
If I was native to the states where people seem to shit awesome gear and then sell it on the cheap, it'd be a no brainer.
Plus, I haven't tried the bf at that volume, or that low a tuning before and its pretty much what I'm after. But I know when skip demos his Skyhammer, I'm gonna have to change my pants again.
Don't even think about posting that demo, Skip.

Just an FYI.... here's a Skyhammer Pre on eBay for 400$ + shipping, and he offers shipping down under. :thumb: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200927417202?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:VRI&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2661#shId

In all honesty, with your current rig you'll be able to get a similar tone putting a good boost or overdrive in front of the Sovtek. A Black Forest with the depth and volume maxed and EQ / gain set to taste in front of it would be a sick alternative. So I would probably suggest going with the 4x12, theres no point in having better tone if nobody can hear it on stage. ;)

Oh, and ummmm yeah I'm still gonna do the demo. Just to be a bastard.

TJ, I like the stain idea alot. I would think that leaving the nosing natural and then doing a darker brown (a brown as deep as the green stain is) would be pretty sick, if your too medium with the brown it would look a lil off IMO. GREAT color scheme though, just make sure some grain is still visible and you'll be golden.

Well, I made up my mind to go the 4x12 route. Thanks to the international think tank that is the doom room. It makes the most sense.
Despite skip posting a Skyhammer pre in my price range... :grumpy:
And yes, I was banking on you to demo anyway....bastard!
Yeah the black forest does pretty much what I want so I'm all sorted. Just gotta budget for new cab action now. What do used orange cabs float for in the states? I'd ask you pommie blokes but shipping from the UK is far more brutal, for some reason. Realistically it's unaffordable from the US as well, but there's the possibility that if the price is insanely low enough, it could be worth it.
I will get one eventually...but priorities is priorities.
Anyone heard the new Church of Misery yet?

DO IT. Where do you live? Ill totally help you for free because I want to see this happen so bad.
Also that folded horn cab was glorious, id love to hear it in person. If i had the space id damn well be making shit like that.

Sidenote, i green/black bursted that headshell. looking cool, old school on the front, new school sides and top, like a mullet but better.
Pics to come after I get some more finish on it.

We need to create some sort of wyrm hole doom teleportation system through the Aether for collaboration of gear creation. Or just to get all the rigs together at once and end existence for all. That sounds like a sane idea right guys?

Next few days should be epic gearwise here. Tube tester, tubes, Sunn 1200s and more guit parts should all be showing up in the next couple of days. I'm way to excited about it all. Hopefully my amp luck holds and I can get that thing up and running with minimal hassle. I should really just go ahead and get the rest of the cool guy tools and learn to be a real amp tech.

MUST STAY FOCUSED ON VAN!!!!! :mope:

Dude, wormhole theory for the doom win.
I just watched an episode of Q and A with Lawrence Krauss debating religion, marriage and euthanasia on a panel with Fred fucking Nile (cunt). He slayed with the powers of Theoretical physics. Nile was just a dickbag. With all the powers that being a dickbag wins.
Hey whiskey, I love that you use "cunting". Personal favorite of mine, too.

Also skip, I was gonna drive the black forest a little with a bb9 and a dynacomp, for super fatness.

Good choice my friend! :thumb:
:bear:
Hopefully it won't be too long, BTW did u want a demo as a dirt box or as a recording preamp?
Are you using the black forest as a distortion pedal or as a booster? I think if you crank the pre-gain on the amp and use the BF as a booster with the FAC and Volume cranked witht he gain low you might come out with some wicked high gain results.
As far as shipping a cab, i guarantee it'll cost more then the cab its self but if your looking for an orange 4x12 Tom the builder of Mammoth Cabs had one he was trying to sell on the cheaps and might ship it for you but I'm not sure if he still has it.

I'm so torn about wanting a studio version of antarticans ('cause that shit absolutely slays in the flesh) and wanting Sleep to stay firmly on the nostalgia circuit--no new music that would violate the sanctity of their actual run as a living, breathing band organism.

Also hot damn Matt Pike on guitar makes me tingly. That solo is disgusting.

:wha?:

Go home Matt, your drunk.

It's okay, nobody will hold it against you, just go home.

No no its okay, Al can carry out the rest of the set on his own and nobody will fault you for it.

Just put the guitar down and don't embarass yourself, it's okay.

Matt... Matt... go home.

I know I will probably get chastised for this but Dragonaut was incredibly sloppy. He eventually starts warming up (or sobering up :idk: ) during the beginning of Dopesmoker but if I had paid to see Sleep and that's what I got for one of the most iconic doom riffs ever written I'd be disappoint. I KNOW he can do better though, I've seen recent Sleep videos where he nails it, but this performance leaves me wanting more.

Don't burn me too hard guys..... :trippy:
