I finished "The World According to Garp" for my Novels to Film class a few weeks ago and we finished watching the film today in class, I wouldn't recommend either. I disliked the film, and I'm not 100% sure how to feel about the book.
I just finished "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury and "I am Legend and a collection of short stories" by Richard Matheson. I'm about half way through this book called "Moons of Triopus," extremely well written 60's Hard Science Fiction. I have now started a collection of short stories by H.P. Lovecraft, the first beign "The Dunwhich Horror," which is why I bought the book, it ruled.
I now find myself in the fourth chapter of "Future of an Illusion" by Sigmund Freud, really good stuff.
The next book I have to read for Novels to Film is "In cold blood" by Truman Capote, which I'm hesitant about, my teacher is a nut.
When I'm done with "moons of Triopus" and the H.P. Lovecraft collection I have "Bulfinch's Mythology of Greek/Roman and Nordic Mythology."

I like to read

H.P. Lovecraft is pretty much one of the all time greats, are far as short-story horror is concerned. In my opinion, anyways. Few can match his atmosphere.

In Cold Blood is great, don't worry.

i really hope something's done to bring the prices down a lot. they HAVE to be saving at least $5 a book that they don't have to print and just spew out the code right? more?
annoying.
Because you gobblers of the technological cock will pay it. free market, bitches.
Pulled this one off the shelf for a re-read.

Are you Dutch Haki? That book is messing with my perception of your nationality.

Is the one by Marius Jacob in there? My favorite suicide letter if such a thing can exist.

No, it's all anonymous from people that suicided between '59-'89 in Germany. Occasionally there's a bit of data from a police report to give some backdrop but it's mostly just unfiltered letters.

Interesting. Got to get a hold of that for the summer vacations. Here's the one I was talking about:
„Linge lessivé, rincé, séché, mais pas repassé. J’ai la cosse. Excusez. Vous trouverez deux litres de rosé à côté de la paneterie. À votre santé.“
(The laundry is washed, wrung, dry, but not ironed. I was fed up. Sorry. You'll find two litres of rosé wine next to the bread basket. Cheers.)
What a way to go.

That is a way to go, the library does have a book with letters from famous people, grabbing that one next.
My favourite letter from the German book was a short one, no background was given, that basically said 'You just can't understand me. You probably don't know that I hate you. I'm sorry.'
