Maybe I could get new knobs and, I dunno, light them on fire or something, bury them in a pit of gore for a month and then throw em on. think it's black enough?

Do you guys have any experience with the Zoom Q3HD? I've been thinking about getting a new video camera to film practices with. I need something that has pretty good sound quality and is easy to transfer to a computer. I have a Flip and it rules but the sound quality suffers when we crank it up at practice.

The Drummer in AA had one, its a really handy little recorder. The audio is equivalent to the Zoom stereo field recorders which alot of people on this board use, and the video is atleast equivalent of a good iPhone capture.

I filmed this using one:

I read a really good article the other day...thought i would share it here...for me, personally, it explained a lot and at the risk of sounding corny, it's definitely planted some seeds in my head and changed the way i think about my life...

As some of you know I was having a bitch of a time finding caps for my soundtronics and most of the normal places did not have what I was looking for.
I found some of the stuff I needed on this random website for Newark/element 14. I ordered the shit I needed and allready have it and installed the caps. Amp is Happy.
This morning I got a call from them asking if the order got to me and if everything worked out ok, then letting me know they were sending me a code for 15% off on my next order.
I'm just pleasantly suprised at the customer service and thought it was pretty cool of them. My order was tiny but they still acted like it was a big deal. Kind of nice in this day and age.

DARREN THATS FUCKING AWESOME! :thumb:

I'll save Newark for future references. It's always awesome to have someone go the extra mile for you. It reassures you and peacefully invites you to return with more of your custom. In other words, it pays to be nice.

We named all our animals after alcoholic drinks. My dog was Scrumpy (she was a Jack Russel/Terrier crossbreed so it made sense to call her Scrumpy Jack), our sheep was named Guinness. That one made no sense since it was a white sheep. It was blind, though, so I guess that resembles the state of self when one drinks too much Guinness. Believe it or not but I've never been drunk from drinking too much Guinness. I don't think I could drink enough Guinness to the point where I become drunk. Our rabbit was called Stout, and our Guinea Pig was called Brandy,

This is more for a Dinosaur kinda set up right now, rather than doom since my LP is at my parents

Have you tried putting the OCD after the fuzz and setting it up for a clean boost?

It's an excellent device for the money. I wish it were a little bit cheaper and they focused more on improving the quality of the video rather than increasing the amount of pixels, but as for a relatively affordable device with high quality room sound capture and passable video quality, it's excellent. There are endless YouTube channels that use it for gear demos and for live shows. It's pretty bad in low light conditions though.

Have you considered a clean boost? LPBs are cheap, and not so nasty. Maybe messing with your p/ups?

I have too much other shit to catch up on in hear, but can someone answer me this: why the fuck are textbooks so expensive!? Why are there so fucking many?!

The publishers will tell you it's because of the used book market. But the more likely reason is that the people who write the books have to pay all the phd students and grad assistants who actually write the books.

And I second clean boost for boxman - put whatever clean/volume boost after the muff and it should be good if you are running into a clean amp that hasn't already saturated the power section.

That was interesting and raises some good points. I think that it's mostly true as well. We have this expectation that we should be upwardly mobile and happy ALL OF THE TIME. And it's just not realistic. If we were happy all the time, there wouldn't be a word for it, and nobody would give a shit about it because it was happening all the time.

Lost the quote somewhere in this shit, but glad you are digging the Elements, Vid. And also pretty pumped that you are a Game of Thrones nerd like me.

In awesome news - I felt my daughter kick for the first time a few days ago. And I have been playing her music most nights. She seems to like The Doors and Pink Floyd (my wife said she was moving around during the songs). Also played some Led Zep, Nirvana, Black Sabbath, and Jack Johnson. Very exciting stuff :yay:

I got one a couple weeks ago and haven't had a chance to plug it in and use it -- do you use a specific app from the app store to record or just video?

tascams got an app
that blows major ass
its the only thing thats ever frozen my ipod
you can use it in any app
that you can use the built in mic
i use twisted wave now which rules
but garageband audacity or even voice memos works
take advantage of the volume knob
and explain the limiter to me when you get a chance
and wether it should be used for cajunkachunks

i use the Voice memo on my phone too...but it sucks trying to get voice memo onto itunes or trying to email it, especially since it has a 7m time limit for emails.

I find Soundcloud app works, you basically get the same quality as voice memo but it uploads it to your account straight away.

but the best of all app i have found is Multi-Track...you can record one track at a time and just volumes, you can loop stuff as well. For home use, i use one track for the rhythm guitar and the other for lead track...at rehearsals i just use one track to record the band, but the volume function helps with the clipping and overloading the iPhone microphone.

Try this link: http://www.kennedy-center.org/explorer/videos/?id=M5457&type=A

They edited the video to take out the guy introducing us and talking about Listen Local First. Which isn't a bad thing, its always weird having your band introduced. So i guess they re-uploaded it under a different address. What's weird is theres no FX on the mix, live she had a rack ton of verb and delay on here voice so it sounds weird listening back to me.

Congrats!!!!! I felt mine kick the first time about a week ago! It's such a crazy feeling, and immediately brought a smile to my face for three days. We're about to try different musics as well, my wifey wants to start with QOTSA and I'm gonna start with Sunn O))) to see which she likes more and then adjust the music schedule to that.
