UGH...I had to pass on rejoinging my old death metal band as a permanent member. Since I moved about an hour away, being in one band where our practice space is about a mile away and school too, I just couldn't give them the time they deserve. I am going to go over there and teach them the old songs though, the drummer became the guitarist (he is fucking sick!) so he doesn't really know a lot of the old material, especially what wasn't recorded. They have a new drummer and they had a bass player on back-up if I couldn't do it, so they aren't screwed or anything. I will go spend a weekend at their space, one day working with the guitar player, the next day I will jam the songs with the guitarist, singer and drummer. The new bass player can watch me and learn how to be brutal from me. It will be fun to throwdown with the boys. A part of me really hated having to say no. At least I was their first choice! Who knows, I have some riffs I might toss their way to see if they can do anything with.

Deltz - yah. i'd hate having to take a pass on a fun sounding gig too. but an hour of travel is ROUGH. that shit gets harder the longer it goes too.

I travel about an hour to practice (But it's only once a week). It was only 30 minutes in the beginning but we had to move it. I don't mind the drive but I'm going to move and that move will put me closer. I hate moving though...

I would probably do it, if I wasn't in another band. That is really what makes it hard. School somewhat limits my practice time, not too bad for one band, but for two bands, AND a girlfriend, a dog and cat, owning a house, PLUS a few other fun things....that's when it becomes really hard. Both bands would get less than my optimal attention so I had to choose one.

You could make your own band. That's what I did.

Meh; getting signed doesn't mean what it used to these days. So much bullshittery in the biz.
