Two other things:

First, Apparently said friend played with Order of the Owl last night in Allentown. Guitar sounded amazing. Never even really put 2 and 2 together that It was going to be order of the owl til yesterday

Second, My band's recording Engineer got his Monday for an order he placed back in September. Even at the 8 months for that I think that's still "short" on a wait time.

Image

That's his. I got to play it on monday at his studio. It was the first time I've actually gotten to play one at all or even hold one. The necks on them are so thin and fast feeling. Action is perfect, and it just feels smooth as butter.
The lucite body? Holy fuck that guitar must be 15 pounds. It weighs as much, if not more than our bassists Gibson RD, and that thing is a Tree (its, i think, a 78 or 79.) I'm glad i got to play it though, I never knew if i wanted one, but my GAS told me i did. Now i have gotten to play one, and I don't think my GAS will win this argument any time soon

As much as i loved the neck, i didn;t love it THAT much

That's a stunning guitar, truly. But I hear you on the description. It's been a worry of mine and probably why I never could stand firm long enough to afford one and order mine. I still really want an EGC, but I'll be sticking to wood guitars for the moment.

Ancient Astronaught wrote:When I picked up the tele custom I had the choice between it and two esquires (including one with a SD noiseless broadcaster pickup). I loved the esquires and the SD loaded one definitely sounded amazing but I NEED a neck pickup for lead lines. I gotta have that thick heavy tone and the esquires while sounding great with dirt couldn't pull off the lead tones I liked. What's funny is I was talking on FB to ChristianATL, he wants to build an esquire telemasterw/ a broadcaster and esquire switching. Sounds pretty beast to me.

A Telemaster with a broadcaster single coil and Esquire switching sounds awesome. Christian has sweet taste in guitars. I'm disappointed he never visits us here.

deathmonkey wrote:Yes, baritone scale. It's gorgeous in person. Second input jack is for a light controller. Thing will glow different colors... which is amazing. I think i'll stick with wood guitars for quite some time. I hear what you mean about the extra sounds... and thats a big fear of mine as well. Something about the way i pick seems to accentuate twangyness/pluckyness of guitars. We've discussed. It's why i can't play fenders, all i do is twang and jangle. Gibson necks and others (basically mahogany) deaden that part of my picking. Why i like those more. I fear an aluminum neck would just hurt my brain.

I've been playing my Telecaster mostly recently. Maybe it's because of the old strings on my Ibanez Artist, but it just has a livelier bounce and spring to it. The Ibanez plays better, but the Telecaster has more clarity. I appreciate both styles equally, but the Ibanez is more comfortable and playable. The Telecaster is, however, lighter.

You should totally start cloning a bone stock DS-1 in a fancy etched enclosure just to see how much praise it would get and how much you could charge for it :excellent:

Dude if you put a Wizard and/or Weed! on it I'm sure you could charge over a hundred bucks.

Is it true that Marilyn Manson removed some of his rib bones in order to to give himself a bj? Wouldn't it be easier to get one of his many adoring fans to do it for him?

Who the fuck steals anything?

I hate thieves.

My worst fear is getting anything I have bought over the past year stolen at a show because I love it all so much. I haven't played live in almost 2 years come November, with any of my stuff. I'm super paranoid.

from what I read, people get robbed more often for gear nowadays then ever, it's shitty you even have to worry about something like that. We all spend hard earned money on nice stuff and have to worry about it being stolen, hate thinking about it

It's rather extreme but you can put a miniature GPS receiver inside the routing of your guitar, your pedal if it has space, and your amps. Stealing cabinets is pretty damn hard, but you can easily install a tracker inside a cabinet. It'll cost $500 to do that in total, but yeah, ideally people just wouldn't steal your shit.

Got back from my first Clutch concert this morning, it was also my 4th concert with The Sword... People got crushed, and there were horny people old enough to be my grandparents there. Just another day in the big easy.

One of the openers had an amp with only a volume control. No EQ, no gain. Volume, pure and simple. Styled like a white Marshall with wheat cloth face-plate. It was pretty cool.

Yowsa! Welcome to your clutch addiction.

How's the new stuff live?
I'm really looking forward to their next tour down here. Jaguar and fever...

I checked in on the doom-vest-weed-wizard-man blowjob thread, y'all raised some good points about marketing.
But (as I'm sure someone mentioned there) only a dipshit doesn't see through such obvious acts of low brow pandering.
I'm off to get "Dopehoover McSatan" tattooed on my balls...y'know, to make em more "doom".

Been a Clutch fan since high school. They were one of the bands that transitioned me from generic modern "rock" into stoner territory, and just helped me expand my musical taste in general. I wasn't sure I was going to like their new material, but facing it head-on at 115dB definitely changed my mind. I picked up a copy of Earth Rocker and Slow Hole to China for $10 a piece. I originally wanted a shirt, but $25 for something I could make myself was a bit out of my budget. They're one of those bands that I would love to see live again, because they have such a huge library of material and can consistently reproduce it live. Everything was spot on last night. If I saw them again, I'd expect an entirely different show altogether.

Cool pics man. Interesting to see Dan rocking the Ric.
Yeah, they are solid. Totally infallible live. They are my favorite live band.
They are also horizon expanding like you mentioned.

I gotta say, I'm glad that's not the one they ran with. The doubled up Ozzy vocals sound kinda cool though.
