So I did something last night I'm not sure if I'm proud of or not.....

I put a DS-1 on my bass board...

If its an consolation its a Keeley Ultra mod that i left in ultra mode. :idk: Sounds pretty sick actually.... even doing finger blasts it still hard articulation and a nice amount of grit. I have to admit... I kinda like it.

I don't think I've ever tried a DS-1

Sometimes Skip, Shitty gear makes the coolest sounds. My favorite tone my one friend has on guitar is through a fucking danelectro fab tone. It sustains forever, and is a 20 dollar pedal if you can find them used.

Two other things:

First, Apparently said friend played with Order of the Owl last night in Allentown. Guitar sounded amazing. Never even really put 2 and 2 together that It was going to be order of the owl til yesterday

Second, My band's recording Engineer got his Monday for an order he placed back in September. Even at the 8 months for that I think that's still "short" on a wait time.

Image

That's his. I got to play it on monday at his studio. It was the first time I've actually gotten to play one at all or even hold one. The necks on them are so thin and fast feeling. Action is perfect, and it just feels smooth as butter.
The lucite body? Holy fuck that guitar must be 15 pounds. It weighs as much, if not more than our bassists Gibson RD, and that thing is a Tree (its, i think, a 78 or 79.) I'm glad i got to play it though, I never knew if i wanted one, but my GAS told me i did. Now i have gotten to play one, and I don't think my GAS will win this argument any time soon

As much as i loved the neck, i didn;t love it THAT much

Phew.... I was worried there for a minute.... Thought I might have to commit hari kari for committing an act of treason in the land of pedals.

If it's stock don't bother, they are absolutely horrid. But modded ones aren't that bad actually. I thought i was gonna plug it in and be like "ugh this sounds-a like-a a pooooooo" but alas, I was wrong.

You are correct sir! And I have a danelectro fab tone!!!! Well, technically I own one but skully has it. It was DOA on arrival and I was gonna have him rehouse it in a better enclosure and do a TB mod and maybe some cap mods but I havent had the loot to get it finished. I love how nasty and gnarly that pedal is. It is so over the top its awesome.

Dude that EGC is sick!!! Bass VI scale? I love the tone of lucite / acrylic bodies but their weight is just too much for me. I have never really been that big into EGC, I've seen / heard / played enough aluminum guitars to know that I don't like the fretboards. Not in how they play / feel but the strane erroneous little sounds it creates on the strings. Some people love it and make it sound amazing, but for me and my style it does nothing but irk the living bejesus outta me. Some how though... somehow I still GAS for an EGC RD style wood hybrid guitar with a coated fretboard and black inlays...

1. Tele's are so awesome. 2. There's nothing wrong with a DS-1, it has it's application. 3. Tele's are so awesome.

One of the Mogwai guitarists swears by the Fab Tone, I read somewhere that he has dozens of those.

Haha! Sorry, I wasn't getting all style council about the dirt pedals. I was more involved in reminiscing to myself about the first pedal I ever owned, a DS1. I really loved it, even stock (although now, given experience, that might be different).

And fuck yes, we need a bear hug-icon.

Captain needs a bear alert-icon.
How're finals going, by the way?

Yes, baritone scale. It's gorgeous in person. Second input jack is for a light controller. Thing will glow different colors... which is amazing. I think i'll stick with wood guitars for quite some time. I hear what you mean about the extra sounds... and thats a big fear of mine as well. Something about the way i pick seems to accentuate twangyness/pluckyness of guitars. We've discussed. It's why i can't play fenders, all i do is twang and jangle. Gibson necks and others (basically mahogany) deaden that part of my picking. Why i like those more. I fear an aluminum neck would just hurt my brain.

I love that in the doom room, we don't discuss the concept of impending doom, just impending anal rogering.

And on that note, I'm off to bed.

Oh how disturbing my dreams will be now.

hahaha it's all good, I'm just playing along to the boutique pedal forum ideaology that boss pedals suck. They really aren't horrible, some of them are real gems but they also have alot of horrid pedals IMO.

Agreed, we need to get Tom on this....

HAHAHAHAHA yes he does but it needs to be of my face winking and smiling devilishly. ;)

Nice! Lights you say? thats pretty sweet!!! See I don't mind the twang and jangle of wood fretboards, I actually love maple fretboards for that reason. But the aluminum ones have this harshness to that twang and jangle that I dont like. It sounds unatural and out of place IMO. I can see where mahogany guitars would work great for you, and maybe thats why I don't jive as much with gibsons I like that lil bit livelier feel of the twang and jang.

CaptainBoxman wrote:A bear alert icon eh? Yes, some warning about impending buggery would be lovely really.

I just found out yesterday what buggery really meant, I thought it meant something like rubbish or childish behavior. Boy was I wrong.
