Empress' founder Steve Bragg posted a pair of comments on the Shnobel video.

"You can update the firmware with an SD card, so we'll be adding more modes if people request them. The beer mode is a catchall for any mode we come up with that doesn't fit into any of the other modes. Does that make sense? Right now there's a filtery-glitchy submode and a gated reverb submode in the beer mode."

"Ya it will be $449. Not cheap but here's some tasty features: around 20 algorithms (more coming after we release), 35 presets, stereo, sd card for firmware updates, analog dry, true bypass or buffered bypass to get trails, control port to control with expression pedal or midi or external tap or cv, midi out to change presets on other devices. And since it's field updateable, we'll be able to add stuff after release, like a looper, if people are interested in such a thing."

I read this interview a while back, but forgot about it. Empress has been working on code for a reverb pedal since at least 2012, so I'm excited to hear what they've come up with.

The listing says 3/31. I think late-March was always the plan.

It's kind of odd to me that Sweetwater opened a pre-order page weeks ago, even though they won't be able to ship them until around June. It seems like a lot of people would cancel their orders during that time, causing maintenance headaches.
