Just wanted a notion of whether low latency and steady performance was happening in class compliant mode. I generally seem to see Mac users have a better experience than Windows users with their stuff, so I wanted to know if its best attributes would go out the window in my use case.

I was going to answer this earlier but I couldn't stop jamming out with my guitar connected to the ipad.
It's good! The tiny latency involved can be tweaked out and I didn't have any problems. However I do have to say that I needed to use my usb hub to get it going and that it takes a lot of energy to run, so ymmv.

It should happen pretty quick -- apparently the issue was Apple didn't tell anyone they were dropping a new OS so app devs weren't able to test and make changes ahead of launch.
Another new eventide algo made in to an ios app. Don't see myself getting this one when Spinn is out there.

If you want to sequence a bunch of synths and don't mind handling audio elsewhere NanoStudio 2 is hand down the best DAW ever. With proper audio support it'll be the best ios daw period.
I also have to throw down on Gadget 2, it has its own synths so no auv3 support. But it's the best musical sketchpad ever. It's very focused on getting your ideas down quickly. Though despite this you have a lot of control. The one song I have on my bandcamp was made entirely on Gadget 1.
Meant to reply years ago lol. Thanks for the suggestions.
That gadget track is sweet.
I did end up getting gadget 2 and bm3... I have ableton on the home computer so beatmaker definitely feels friendly. I kind of wish the gadget price included all of those extra synths...but alas, it's still pretty cool.

Yeah, I'd bought the other gadgets slowly as they go on sale which is often enough to warrant waiting for that to happen, especially now near the end of the year.

Opinions on a live looper? I was wondering about what apps would let you build loops more like a guitar pedal versus looping in garageband or something.
I'm getting together with a drummer friend of mine for the first time in forever, and thought I'd try to use the ipad for some atmosphere / low end stuff while i play guitar.

Do you have a midi foot pedal? If yes then I'd recommend getting Enso by audio damage and playing with it's rather clever footswitch mapping. Enso is by far my favorite looper ever, hardware or otherwise. It's a frippertronics style tape loop thing where you can decouple the play and record heads, as well as have the loopback go through the whole signal chain again, which includes effects like tape saturation and a vibrato. That coupled with letting you have the oldest layers fade out over time means you can have ever shifting loops if you want. Or set it up like a normal looper I guess lol.
Loopy HD: This app is absolutely ancient, and I haven't used it in ages. But it's design is super straightforward and might be what you want. 12 tracks of looping and a fast gesture based workflow. Sadly though I think Tasty Pixel is only updating it when they absolutely have to, like when iOS 14 broke all music apps recently.

Audiokit L7 Is also pretty straight forward and a lot newer and well maintained, offering more options for sound manipulation. The downside being that you need to get to know it a bit more to get it perfectly on your set up.

Also I have to mention Samplr, which is not exactly what you were looking for but it's so good it's worth a mention, it's a standalone app so no auv3 fx, but that's okay because it's a monster. It's one of the oldest music apps around, but it's so well design and so clever it holds up past most other solutions. It lets you play with the audio in many ways right from the screen, and since everything is laid out so well you can minimize time away from your instrument. It's not guitar pedal style looping how you want, but it's an inspiring app and really you can lose hours just on it.
