Copping a DM4 cause of this thread
if u like the sound of running a buffer into a vintage germanium fuzz/boost then you will fucking love the dm4

it was probably just my amp, didnt know how to handle the signal for some reason because of troglodyte preamp tube technology. the line6 might be a great unit. the fuzz face setting was the one i stayed on a lot, in retrospect it didnt really sound like a fuzzface that much. sort of. well it was digital, and relatively early on in the amp and distortion modeling game
the delay from that line obviously stood the test of time

I think most of that line still holds up (except for the build quality), sometimes you can find them for really low prices esp if you are down to fix the switches. I dont think it is just you though, I have heard alot of people say that range has a "sound" thats always present. That may or may not work out. The DM4 is probably awesome if you let go of the thougt that it WILL sound like all the vintage boxes it promises. Boss' multi-distortion pedal is supposed to be a sleeper too, probably alot better bypass also since it's boss

What would happen if you used a rubberneck in the effects loop of the rubberneck, ha ha see ya

I hear a Soul Food in the loop of the Rubberneck is amazing <g>. Just having fun with you @pigmaker
Bit crashing and ring mod sound killer in the loop. Maybe put a compressor after them though to control it though. I found things can get out of hand right quick. Which can be cool too.

Don't think anyone mentioned this one. DOD FX90

I see them pop up on Reverb around $100.
I believe they have one of the magic BB chips.
However the FX90 does span quite a bit of time in DOD history, a couple different enclosure types, so the chip might be different in the different versions
They sound pretty damn good to me.
here's another one i really like. Not a sleeper. Probably someone mentioned it already. I think i actually prefer the DOD FX90...

So, I am looking for the Malekko ID-600D literally every day,
but if I don't find one soon, I might go with a FX90
Naturally I have concerns about the durability of the DOD enclosure.

The enclosure is heavy zinc.
I'll assume you mean the switch instead. Swapping out an 35 year old tact switch is pretty simple for a tech. In fact many times with this era of DOD the switch is fine, it has just been improperly adjusted.

All the old DODs I have tried have been rock solid and as Tom says the switch is a simple swap. Except battery doors but who uses batteries anyway

Hi Tom,
Yeah the switch is what I meant. Good to hear that is overblown nonsense. Which I suspected might have been the case
I'm all over the net like sandra bullock trying to discern which has the longest delay times.
Quite a bit of conflicting info from players.
Anyway, whichever one i end up with has to be no larger than a boss enclosure
Which, AFAIK, narrows it down to:
FX90
DOD Performer 585-A
DOD Performer 585-B
DOD FX96 - version 1 and version 2
