Rainbow machine has standard 1900 style knobs? Also alpha makes a 6.00mm and 6.35 mm smooth shaft pot, wonder what the Rainbow uses

Ok!! Official report on the knobs. They look pretty cool and fit okish on the Afterneath (I’ll grab shots in a bit).

The knobs themselves are probably one the crappier constructed acrylic knobs I’ve had. Trust me when I say, I’ve tried a lot garbage knobs over the year from many vendors.

Imo these knobs are cool aesthetically but not functionally.

I could see them breaking in that set screw shaft in a year if you are a knob turner.

Overall I’d say they aren’t worth the cash.

I’m actually baffled they have zero negative reviews on these? Maybe I’m nuts here but they are junk.

jwar, what do you mean by "crappier constructed"? Is she using cheap resin to cast 'em? Do you really think they'll crack? Are they just poorly finished? What does "fit OKish" mean? What's not functional about 'em?

I'm pretty sure the knobs EQD use on the Rainbow Machine aren't actual Davies, they're just clones. They're nice enough.

Keep in mind I’m just theorizing here as I don’t know the actual process she uses but these seem like they similar to knobs I’ve bought in China for pennies.

The resin is ok but it feels like a cheap construction. So I expected to have a soft custom feel to it but to me it feels like they are made from extremely cheap resin. I actually thought at first they were simply repurposed knobs that were previously purchased.

The shafts will most likely strip. Not crack. I’ve had this happen with knobs from Mammoth before and they are no longer a source I’ll ever go to for knobs for they exact reason. If the shaft strips, the knobs slip off.

The knobs obviously function right now. However in my experience, low quality like this tend to have that shaft issue I just touched on.

I had to turn the screws a lot more than should have been necessary to snug them. That is what I mean by okish.

The finish just doesn’t look as nice as you’d expect. For novelty type knobs I thought it’d look cleaner and to me it just looks like crap close up.

I even asked my wife without swaying here opinion previously and she said they felt and looked cheap. Lol

Davies are crap but they are stupid cheap if you buy them right. These just are not worth the money IMO.

Well it was 15$.. I've spent more on a plate of Mexican food that made it's immediate and violent departure from my GI track upon consumption..

Hopefully they at least look better than that
