Nice.
But, you are gonna paint it purple, right?

By all rights I should, right?

I think I might leave it the way it is. :idk:

That re-ish FL-9 I picked up not long ago is painted black. :doom:

Apparently, I'm king of the sub-$20 flanger. :snax:

I will not dispute that.
How did you score a 9 series for under $20?

eBay

I'm pretty sure it's a reissue, there's no sticker on the back and it's painted black. So, I'm not positive. It sounds good though.

Thats still pretty good.
Reissues are identical circuits aren't they? Who cares if it sounds right?

I know that the CS-9's are a bit different, mainly there's a slight volume boost in the original, which I guess means it isn't exactly the same circuit.

Yeah, for like $20, I'm not complaining. :idk: :!!!:

Ibanez Flying Pan apparently isn't. Work-a-like, you'd probably not know the diff if you didn't know an original well. Cannot tell you how right or off-right.

Find an original or reissue for $22 and you win the thread.

iPope's post prompted me to google it and the fine folks over at tgp say the originals used BBDs that are no longer available. Also, they were obviously made by Maxon, but Ibanez get them done somewhere else now. Either way, if you like it you like it. I'm still gonna pay 5 times as much and get the originals :omg:

Unfortunately (or maybe rather fortunately), I'm familiar with the sound of the original Flying Pan.

I bought a reissue when they first came out. Took it home. Plugged it in. Brought it back and returned it.

They're not even close.

Even back when I bought my original they were nowhere near $22. So, yeah, I'd concur, if you find an original for $22, you've won the thread. :snax:

(I wasn't even looking for another flanger, actualidiot, but it was less than $20. :idk: )

(BYOC does a Flying Pan kit that is supposed to be the original circuit. I haven't played one, but they have a good rep on their recent circuit clones.)

Yeah, I'd probably have snagged it myself, it's not that chank :)
