I'd make Portland for sure. Not far from me. Lots of cool stuff to do, and there's also a volcano. I'd be super down for some kind of thing and then part deux: on a volcano, and I'd drive, so I can give a few people a ride if need be. Some friends of mine are hiking around there Thursday, because they're visiting volcanos and having sex on them. Not saying we'd have to do all that of course.

I visited the Ape Caves last week, was pretty cool, and a short hike, not difficult. Just one example of awesome outdoors stuff we could potentially do. Subterranean lava tube tunnel. No pictures can describe how dark and isolated it is down there.

If we're thinking PNW, I know of a killer venue for rent in Washington. Theres a cancelled nuclear power plant now owned by a sound guy, and you can rent the cooling tower. Crazy reverb in that thing with unpredictable delays. We could probably involve the local engineering school I attended if we want a cool recording, their final portfolio project has to be free I believe, and they can loan out gear.

I will say, anecdotally, that having these sorts of things tends to keep people in a more focused/productive mindset which offsets the antics, keeping them fresher for the time when shit isn't popping off.

Also some of us are filthy musicians and setting them loose in a place like this would be bonkers.

Yea fuck that the second I get to play in that thing I would try and just make the wildest sounds possible. That's like way too cool of an opportunity and I'm already ultra jealous you guys got to play that mausoleum.

I'm from Utah and hate all snow-based sports. That cooling tower sounds dope, though. I recorded in an abandoned grain silo once, and I bet a cooling tower sounds a lot better!

If it's this winter I don't know if I'll be in the PNW or not (the life of being a temporary contractor).

The big question is how much power we can get there, and how hard it will be to load in gear. Also pricing may be an issue unless we get enough of us in. I'll start inquiring if we get enough interest.

Pricing, probably, should be the last concern. Power and logistics should come first, because if we can't hit those there's no reason to even think about price.

I'll see if I can make it once you guys set a date.

Power generators make excellent drone sources.
