I'll ask this out of pure curiosity and you've probably said it before. You're in your 30's I'm assuming, so that means you are in fact a Millennial in most people's eyes. The Millennial generation spans from early 1980's to 2000. Unless of course you are 37, then you're safe I suppose. LOL

Now it's also funny because I'm 34 and still could be considered Generation X which is 1960-early 1980's.

The whole generational thing has never made much sense to me. I just like to say "kids are dumb", which is a great deal of folks. LOL


Also my post was meant purely in jest. I actually have a lot of respect for police officers and other civil servants. I know many officers who are great people and I wouldn't judge them all based on some shit heads.

At one time I was actually trying to become an officer. I applied at 8 departments. Got close, but never followed through. Imagine. JWAR the cop. hah

As someone firmly within the Millenial era, i have to say it's one of the most ill-defined and out of touch definitions i've come across? A 36 year old and a 16 year old would be pretty incomprehensible to each other these days. Even tightening the gap, i'm 30 and trying to relate to an 18 year old means trying to understand a lot of cultural and technological references that i will never get. People who are in their 30s right now would have been teenagers when they first used the internet, barring unique circumstances, whereas a teenager in the United States today might not remember life before cell phones or even smart phones.

Now the Millenarians... I also can't get behind because i'm not into Christian Doomsday stuff, but at least they were wacky and got sorta mass persecuted a bunch of centuries ago. Gotta give it to them. It must have been especially depressing to be a Millenarian in the 1500s.

Just read 3 more officers dead in Baton Rouge and 3 in the hospital. Civil unrest is still not over.

This is getting very, very sad.

I'm just reading that the shooter was from Kansas City—I guess he traveled there to do this? I guess it's still too early to get a full picture of the story.

I'm very worried about the reaction from government down there. As I've mentioned in the past, I'm from Mississippi, but probably 90% of my extended family lives in Baton Rouge—it's where my dad grew up. LA's much like MS in that most of the state government is bereft of any sympathy for black people. They've got it pretty fucking rough down there. In terms of education, opportunity and general quality of life, it's often very, very bleak.

I'm at a loss as to what to say or do about any of this. It's all so horrifyingly sad.
