I'm in a small town trying to find a job until august, it's not like I can get some of the higher reaching jobs I want until after I move.

Boston, Portland, Urbane, Chicago and somewhere in Colorado (name of the place is escaping me) is where I'll be by year's end. It's the wife's turn to get her PhD, that's where her choice schools are. :idk: All of them have better job prospects for someone like me than than the armpit of Florida though. :thumb:

Also, there are ILFbros in those locations, iirc. :!!!:

Mostly art dept stuff on commercials in ATL, set dressing on TV and features in ATL, and scenic dept (as an industrial) in NYC and Philly.
Fuck, that's sounds so rad.
I'm' certainly grateful. It's scary sometimes, $-wise.

Yup. Portland here. Historically a hard town to find work/expensive rents, but we're finally getting a large enough economy to support more people with more money. What kind of work are you looking for? Which phd programs/schools is your wife looking at?

I am a florist. A straight, burly, bearded, male florist. I get strange looks in my industry.

So I really am still trying to decide what I want to be when I grow up. But I never want to grow up. Sooooooooooooooooooooo....that's quite the conundrum there. I'm investing in a fitness business soon. Hoping that makes me good money. I'm 33 and going to be 34 in July. It'd be nice to have some sort of stability. Sigh. LOL.

I've done so many jobs. The longest one I had though was an Auditor of the a movie theater company. Did that shit for like 6 years but was with the company 12 years. Loved/hated it all at the same time. Office work is NOT for me, plus firing people is terrible. I do NOT miss that one fucking bit.

That's awesome. One of my very best friends just stepped aside from his producer job in the video game industry... to be a florist. He lives in LA, maybe should put y'all in touch! :)*

Barista. Managed a coffee shop up until a week ago, but can't live with paying my whole team what the corporation mandates, among other things, but that was the issue that really pushed me over the line. Back in school now to find a new something or other.

Work as a sales associate at Sam Ash, commission was weird to adjust to but I love it. I get to talk about gear all day and play an instrument literally whenever. Also almost all of my coworkers are knowledgable and accomplished musicians.

If you can survive in that world (commission), it's such a cool job. You just get to live in a world that interests you all the time...

I sucked at it so bad. I just ended up giving stuff away for no margin once I discovered that it was possible to do so. Quit just before they would have fired me.
