Sure -- that and your extreme deficit in taste.
Just quoting this because I agree + I ordered from meatcube not long ago. Got the Cohol/Heaven in her Arms split, Tetola93 LP and the Cease Upon the Capital discography 2xtape. The tape, aside from the songs being great, sounds incredible, one of the best-dubbed cassette releases I've heard. The Tetola93 record sounds awful, on the other hand... like it was recorded on a boombox in a room adjacent to their rehearsal space. A shame, because they seem like an interesting band. Ryan Lewis, who runs meatcube (and played in CUTC and Singaia) is an awesome dude to deal with, btw.Strange Tales wrote: https://meatcubelabel.bandcamp.com/album/self-titled
Cease Upon the Capitol also never gets enough rep. Forgotten gem.

Ryan is one of my best friends and the reason I'm so into Japanese music! Dude is a huge inspiration for me.frodog wrote:Just quoting this because I agree + I ordered from meatcube not long ago. Just to (perhaps unwantedly) butt in - this is pretty much the opposite of my view. If I meet someone who likes some of the same bands I do, but then also likes bands that are horrible and false, their bad taste will obliterate any good choices they've made. Hey breaux you sold me on The Minutemen![]()
Also good to know: I don't see taste as an exclusive thing. I like everything. So try to focus on the music we both like. Judge my taste on the fact that I like bands that you like, not based on the fact that I like bands you don't like.
Hey, that's cool! I've actually ordered from him a couple of times, and will definitely do so again!Strange Tales wrote:Ryan is one of my best friends and the reason I'm so into Japanese music! Dude is a huge inspiration for me.
As for the Tetola93 record, I can't help but agree but him and the band themselves love it. They recorded it themselves (I think the bass player did the mixing and mastering and stuff) and like the sound they got out of it. The band is definitely good enough that the poor recording quality doesn't effect just how punishing that record is though.
Will be no next release. They recorded that self-titled release and broke up due to family commitments and stuff like that. One of the guitar players now plays in Atari.frodog wrote:Hey, that's cool! Yeah, Tetola93's album is really good, and I don't hate the recording so much that I can't enjoy it... usually I like lo-fi sound, but I hope they up the quality just a lil' bit on their next release.
This is butt. Focus on the positive. If we both share a love of a band, that's the important thing. AND... often if someone likes a lot of bands you like, but they also like a lot of bands you don't like, you get talking to them, and suddenly you see those bands in a new light. For example, D.o.S. loves Minutemen, and I kind of thought they sucked, but he convinced me that this was not the case.Just to (perhaps unwantedly) butt in - this is pretty much the opposite of my view.
