Yeah, I read somewhere that suits of armor were usually only like 30 pounds, too.
But good luck being able to afford one.

i'll look out for the doc.
i guess that there were also different periods of armour arms race, and that some would have been more minimal/lighter
but i think that metal versions of full chainmail armour like in the gif would be far too heavy to jump in, if you fell over you were already in trouble to get back up.
at battles like agincourt the french knights got bogged down walking across muddy fields and large numbers probably died from falling over and suffocating face down in the mud

That also happened in the first World War and those guys weren't wearing any armor.
I'm not trying to be a know-it-all about this, I just really want you to be as amazed as I was when I first found out that shit didn't weigh a ton.
Just one of those mind-blowing awesome facts.
Here's half the doco, just to get you hard:

In the tiny video store in the tiny town I grew up in they had 3 anime movies: Akira, Vampire Hunter D, and Urotsikudoji. If they had only know what they were doing (gifs 3 and 4) to my young mind...

I always thought that it had a great story and animation -- with or without ten thousand demon dicks!
