white russians are great

this sounds interesting. but in portland, no one in the entire city would serve you a drink that was half mixer and half alcohol. they may as well spit in your face. seems normal in europe, but i don't order drinks in europe for that reason. i think america is, in general, better for drinks than europe. (we've got to be better for something, right?) but portland is the best place i've ever been for alcohol content in drinks or shots. here, that drink would come out as 3 to 4 oz bourbon, 2 oz kahlua, and and ounce or two of cran. might throw off the flavor, but it's a much better value for drinking at a bar.Pugie wrote:I like this one called Bourberry. It's 2 cl bourbon, 3 cl Kahlúa and about 5 cl cranberry juice.
I also really like bourbon+coke, manhattan, old fashioned, white russian and black russian.

here is a picture i took of a single shot of whiskey on the rocks with a 16 oz tall can of beer at a bar near my house. this is typical for portland.
Maybe I'm just a big pussy, but I find that too much booze can ruin a drink, depending on what it is. Even when I was a 22-year-old champion boozebag, I still didn't like to drink straight liquor. The alcohol burn just totally blows away any flavor in what I'm drinking.misterstomach wrote:this sounds interesting. but in portland, no one in the entire city would serve you a drink that was half mixer and half alcohol. they may as well spit in your face. seems normal in europe, but i don't order drinks in europe for that reason. i think america is, in general, better for drinks than europe. I think the drink of Joy Sores tour was Evan Williams Green Label and Sprite, prepared by drinking about half of the 2 liter of sprite and then pouring the whole bottle of whiskey in there.D.o.S. wrote: You just brought me back. 7 and 7, the classy cheap mixer de jour.
Yeah, nothing helps you get ready to pile into a van and do it all again after playing to exactly six people like being totally fucking hammered.theavondon wrote:I think the drink of Joy Sores tour was Evan Williams Green Label and Sprite, prepared by drinking about half of the 2 liter of sprite and then pouring the whole bottle of whiskey in there.D.o.S. wrote: You just brought me back. 7 and 7, the classy cheap mixer de jour.
