I had NO IDEA that this kind of thing was such an issue.

My girlfriend has been growing her armpit hair on and off for the past few years now, shaving it when she gets bored and growing it when she gets bored of shaving it. I actually encourage it!
It's nice to know that if I'm not out at a club with her and she gets hit on, all she has to do is put her arms off and they usually freak out and run away (it's happened in the past, and it's hilarious).

It's just a bit of hair.
It's in a pretty inconspicuous place - and even if it wasn't it's not my place to tell her what to do with her body.
It's not like I have to lick it or anything. Seriously, it's a non-issue.

I can understand a guys preference for shaved pits.
I can also understand a girl not being into a guy who shapes his eyebrows or has long fingernails.
Sometimes it's hard to control initial reactions and the conclusions you draw from them.

i'm going to get slagged for saying so, but IMO objectification of women is now at an all-time high, and it's due to the modern era's deluge of porn. guys jack off to the images they're sold by the pornomedia and expect that they're going to get the same camera-friendly presentation in real life, and it's stunting mens' imagination and sexuality while raising their expectations to a ludicrous level. i totally cannot understand being SO horrified by a woman who isn't altered to a pornographer's expectations that you'd droop over a little fur on an otherwise attractive, compatible, and willing partner. quite bluntly, i find it childish and ridiculous. not to mention more than a little creepy when it comes to insisting on a prepubescent pubis.

i'm a girl.. and i don't shave my armpits. why the fuck would i? like actually... why would i put BLADES in there. and what's the point anyway? if someone isn't going to talk to me or think i'm disgusting because i don't fucking shave my armpits then i don't want anything to do with them anyway. and if you saw me, i'm not homeles looking, i'm not filthy dirty, i'm totally normal. you could goddamn fall in love with me without even knowing about what i don't shave and it wouldn't matter either way. it seriously doesn't matter. it matters to yourself and that's it. if i want to grow out my armpit hair because i think it's ridiculous that women are just expected to shave all of their body hair for aesthetic purposes, or to please men, then i'm going to do it. but i'm also not going to force my opinion into someone's mind in a way that could make them feel uncomfortable about how they choose to live. when a man says armpit hair is disgusting, that's hurtful and unfair, regardless of whether or not you shave. men can have their preference, just like women, but unless you're a guy and shaving all your body hair, don't put up a fuss when your girl doesn't. that's fucked up.

I'm in germany as some may know. it is a bit similar but we have a very american "pop culture" influence here. So a lot of people think, since mid 80ies, shavind armpits is mandatory.
for me it makes not difference in judging people or m"loving them". I love the partner in that way as she (yeah, i'm into girls - deal with it) comes, shaved, hairy or anything between (what could be the worst of all...).
And Julia Roberts really got my attention with her unshaved armpits. If she did it for the attention, i feel a bit pissed of, but else, what is expect, i would say she is way hotter than i expected...

I've never been with a girl who didn't shave--all seemed to feel a pretty strong cultural mandate to do so--but I wouldn't be phased a bit. Hairy legs too...it's natural. Normal. It's what's supposed to happen. Shave if/when you want, and don't if/when you don't want.

Yeah my gf gets worried every time but i continuously tell her it doesnt matter to me and I mean it.

My gf loves when I grow in facial hair but I prefer to be clean shaven, and she doesn't mind and its not a big deal. If you switch the roles of me and my gf and replace 'facial hair' with 'armpit hair' what about it becomes objectification? Why aren't people entitled to their preferences, if they're understanding of the needs and wants of the person that they display their preferences towards?
I didn't give a rats ass about this before but now I do if people are going to act so damn righteous. Armpit hair is not a plague and its not a cause to fight for, so people on both extremes of the spectrum just simmer down.
