Not sure why all the Austin Hate but you should check it out... It's got everything you are looking for and is constantly in the top 10 places to live in every magazine... I lived in Littleton throughout the 80's and know alot of people that live half a year in CO and half in TX... I would at least check it out, especially since you can have a job already... I live about 10 min from downtown and right next to a Greenbelt... I can have City and Wilderness all in one afternoon...

I've been there a couple times for the Annual tattoo convention in January. From what I've experienced, I like it pretty well. It's a no-brainer that there's a ton of music, but what's the metal/experimental "scene" like there? Any idea if the art scene is very competitive or anything? Besides music, I do a ton of art, and would like to make some money from it eventually.

Oh yeah your art is WAY COOL... You could easily sell that down here, whether on the street at the Ren. Fair or there are a ton of Art Co-Op's that put on shows and rent pop-up galleries to sell stuff... Any restaurant in town will let you hang stuff up to sell... Check out Austin Art Authority, Austin Art Garage, Art Alliance Austin and a ton more... You can always make band posters which is something Austin is know for and you'd be surprised at what people will buy for their Condos down here... The Music scene always takes care of it's own no matter what genre (except Hip-Hop cause it's a GAME) and I'm sure you could easily find people to play with and places to play... San Antonio is even more of a Metal scene and is just 45min down the road... All in all there is a reason half the US has moved here in the past decade and fine women are just icing...

Thanks dude! I mainly wanted to hear other peoples' opinions of other places to see what else there might be out there. Probably will end up at Austin. If I decide that I can handle your hellishly hot summers, that is.

If you come to Portland I'll start a doom band with you. Seriously. It is hard to break into the scene here though, if you don't already know people.

Spokane's pretty good. Warwick.hoy lives there, and is in a pretty weird band that plays rather regularly. I have family there, and it's neat. Not too big of a city, but still like, a real city, you know?
