For part of my first job I had to put my signature on packing slips i'd filled out, and because I was lazy I'd just sign them with a J. One day I screwed something up and my boss comes in and says "who's this mysterious J??? So that's where it came from. Also I did some graffiti too (lollol), I'd normally do animals but a couple times I just did a J,just to make my mark.

And the picture is just something I liked, don't have a clue who done it?

Username - reboot of my old username Y2Jen, which was a portmanteau* of Jennifer Love Hewitt and Chris "Y2J" Jericho.

Avatar - Eva Longoria...

My first-ever good electric guitar was a '65 Duo-Sonic II, so this has been my "internet name" since the late nineties.

My pic is of Felix Pappalardi, bassist and vocalist of Mountain, producer of the Cream albums, classically trained musician, stylish MFer and all-around badass.

Name came from the dictionary when I first established an online name in the late nineties.

Avatar was made during a discussion a while back when pedalmaker z--- v-- was (briefly) on these boards. people really ruffled his feathers by saying things like "cool idea, man. it's just not my thing and probably more money than i want to spend on pedals." There were some cross words. I made the avatar as a gentle reminder for everyone.

also player of the incredibly cool Gibson violin bass with the pool cue that screws into the bottom so you can play it like a double bass, co-author of "Mississippi Queen," holder of a raft of illustrious production and appearance credits...and murdered by his wife in an argument over who'd get the last shot of heroin in the apartment. i used to know a man whose album Felix produced and was a good friend of his as far back as the folk scare of the early 60s and hung with him during the Mountain days...he used to tell me that story, shake his head sadly, and admonish me never to fuck with heroin because "that's what it does...it'll make your own wife kill you."

Also, producer of the Dead Boys second album, and, at the time, was a craaaaaaaazy coke fiend that forced them to use Musicman amps instead of Marshalls because he "couldn't get a good guitar tone out of the Marshalls".

Yeah, I knew dude was into some drugs, but I had never heard about heroin being the specific reason his wife shot him. Guess I always assumed it was something like that. Sad ending to an amazing talent.

I love those early Gibson violin basses so much, from back when they were just called "Gibson Electric Bass". I played a gig a few years ago at which our regular bass player was not going to be able to attend, so my singer/lead guitar arranged for a fill-in, a guy I've never met. Dude shows up with a real-deal 50's EB, my jaw hits the floor. Apparently it had been handed down in his family since it was brand new. Badass.

I'm absolutely sure. This idea kind of makes me like the name change even though I also liked MiddleEarthCrisis. And somehow I always had the feeling Mec wasn't one that loves either.

Shit dude, first I thought you were black then I thought you were this guy. Would you please give us a break and just use a pic of yourself?

I've been using this nick since I signed up to eBay (in early 2000 I guess). At the time I was obsessed with russian literature, hence the -vitch, meaning "son of" and I thought it was really cool to have a name that references the anonymity on the internet, and phantasmagorovich (Son of the ghost) kinda felt alright. I still like the name even though it's so old.
Upside: never taken
Downside: too long for some stuff, noone ever cares to write it right.
[before anyone else cracks the joke: No, I won't change my nick to bitchvitch]

I felt I needed a new avatar after taking an ILF-break of a month or two. Before it was the poster for the movie El Topo that I had seen shortly before signing up. Now it's a picture from a dude's blog a friend found on the net. I thought it goes nice with our general streak for old-timey comics, nudity, bears and whatnot.

This was the other option:

Hahaha that's awesome.
But no. I don't look cool enough to be an avatar.

Yeah, I've noticed from the start Felix Fucking Pappalardi! :animal:  One of the fuzzy fuzz heroes, somebody who understood the proper use of too much fuzz!

Don't know if anybody has noticed but bassist getting murdered by his wife because of reason X has become a grim joke Ithat has grown on me. I surely have slipped it around here, too, though for some years now only mainly when I have bought too much fuzz. (luckily my awesome wife is way much cooler and everything, than the one absolutely out of control bitch I used to live with)
