I never used to like Strats until I got this:

the thing about Strats is that there's so much variation contained in the term "Strat" that saying "i don't like Strats" is like saying "i don't like cars" or "i don't like girls/boys/sex"...you just haven't met the right one yet. i've got two...the maple-neck with the Fender 54's sounds like Buddy Holly, Jerry Garcia in 1971, or Richard Thompson in the 70s; the rosewood-board with the Fender '69s sounds like Mark Knopfler or Ernie Isley. you can get them to sound a bit similar, but they really aren't that much alike despite their morphological similarities. i understand people who just plumb hate Strats, but to me if you're a multi-guitar household not having a Strat is like being a painter and not having brown or orange.
