Sadly you're probably right
What an awesome pedal that would be, I'd be cool with just an FZ-2, but maybe I'll just snag a used one off eBay some day or have someone make me a clone (though I have never seen a Hyper Fuzz clone

Wouldn't it just be a Super Fuzz?

I would guess but I'm not certain, I did some quick googling about the FZ-2's origins but didn't find what circuit it came from
I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to fuzz history and such
Edit: Thank you Mudfuzz

For what?
You find references if you research superfuzzes though
I have said this a shit ton of times.. DiscoFreq's Effects Database http://www.effectsdatabase.com is the best place to start! it is the most useful of sites!

More then when you are bored, if you need a quick link to info for a review they save you a lot of foot work.
A few years ago in bass player Boss sort'a basically said they don't care about making real stuff anymore it was worded as hype but inbetween the lines... it made me rather sad actually.. They use to make good shit, not great but good.

I was just going to say that they make a nice chorus, or did once anyway (MIJ black-knob).

I guess Boss will go completely digital, I wouldn't buy a standalone digital fuzz, for the same price you can buy 2 really cheap analog ones^^
