when i say drum machine, i mean a real physical one that i can use sticks or hands to tap on, not computer program. I'm thinking about doing the drums for our tracks and then giving that to the drummer to use and embellish on.
any thoughts or recommendations?

Seems like an awful lot of work for writing demos. I use ezdrummer with the drumkit from hell pack. works great. sounds sorta like drums. If I knew anything about EQ/compression, they'd probably sound better.

Also, congrats Skip!
I have the DFH addon but I use the basic kit that came with it. I just messed around with the mixer on there and added a little more of the room mics and leave it alone. I don't add anything but a little reverb to the mix. I wish I could figure out a way to trigger the sounds in EZ Drummer with my electric kit. I could damn sure tab out drum tracks a hell of a lot faster then.
Woops - thought you were Tony's guitar player for a second. I should pay more attention! Congratulations for real though - Daddy's Little Girls are the best!
Wait up, Skip, you were a candy goth? (now I'm showing my age) Also, congrats dude! We had our girl in November, they're heaps of fun, different from boys from the get go.
And the Scheidt gig sounds killer! nice ones.
WWPD?

yeah, my wife Kari has this weird baby phobia, if we ever do have a kid it'll be pretty kickass with our respective skill sets to work with
Congrats man. I bet your daughter will be awesome! I wish my parents had been supportive of music and art as I grew up. Things might have turned out a bit differently.
