At first, I think it was done to parody the rock star persona, in the same way drag culture was designed to make fun of women's high fashion and domestic culture norms.
It quickly became a different set of ideas that, whether you're cynical toward it or not, allowed at-risk youth to begin influencing art and make a living.
the "Punk Pedigree" is something I find interesting and tiresome at the same time, if that's possible...

the New York Dolls were rockist poseurs who desperately wanted to be the Rolling Stones, but didn't have the chops, the songs, or the intelligence to do. fuck that. at least the MC5, who also sucked, had a good sound...sadly, they also had no material.

I spent two years online with bad opinions DubKitty and I have no desire to repeat them.

But Chinese Rocks is a 100% jam. it is beyond my comprehension that anyone who likes loud guitars cans say otherwise.
