What would make a pedal unrepairable (especially that one)?

(I don't know shit about electronics)

It's an SMD pedal if I'm not mistaken, so while it might not be impossible to repair, it could very easily be a pain to diagnose and a bigger pain to actually repair.

Yeah, SMD is a way to make things cheaper to manufacture. Not as easily fixed as non-SMD and most manufacturers would probably just replace a defective unit rather than attempting a repair.

I remember asking Aen about it when someone offered it to me on a trade, he basically said that they wouldn't work on it because it's essentially a paperweight by then. :idk:
If there's a fatal design flaw in the circuit in the first place, then it'd be a matter of when not if failure is imminent. So, why try to fix something if it's gonna break soon anyway?

True! I would have just bought the new version. But I get it. 75 bucks (or whatever it was) seems like a great price. Fuck fixing SMD though. LOL! That shit would be a bitch. The whole point of SMD to me is that it's so cheap in most cases you can just replace the entire board loaded and everything.

God fuck SMD so much. I'm 1 for 3 on succesfully soldering SMD boards.

I thought DeviEver stuff was all handmade...? Isn't SMD when like a little robot in china zaps tiny components onto a board in giant factories at lightning speed?

No, SMD is just a different mounting method for components. It uses different, smaller components that are just placed onto the PCB and held on with solder, whereas full-size through hole components have leads which go through the PCB.

SMD does make automation possible though which is why almost all household goods use SMD components.

Yea a lot of it's done by robots, but some folks like to torture themselves and solder SMD. LOL! I would lose those components so fast it's not even funny!

I'm almost positive Dana assembled these. Don't quote me on that, but I thought that was the case.
