New deftones. Not so sure about this. But whatever.

What is it that you are wary of? I've only given it one listen so I don't have a super solid opinion.

It was the first listen for me too. I am not at all a huge deftones fan. Ever since the first successful one (with the fisheye girl) I haven't really paid much attention to them. I really loved and still love the song Minerva. I bought that album because of that song, it's now the only one I ever listen to. Happened upon the new album on Wimp (music streaming service like spotify, no idea if they exist in the US) an decided to give it a listen. First song just seemed like a good riff for the beginning, then standard deftones. Continuation of standard deftones. I put it off in the 4th song. It just seems that after such a long time in existence your songwriting should have evolved. But I don't see that.

I'm quite fond of Cut Hands. I used to think William Bennett was just your average power electronics bonehead, but yeah... Cut Hands and the talks and interviews he's been giving have made me change my mind, kindof.

Also raises interesting questions about the whole "white man playing 'afro noise'" thing.

Agreed good sir, I was expecting something massive when the chorus kicked in and was a bit let down. Love the song, but WANT MASSIVE CHORUS.

I was actually pretty impressed by Diamond Eyes. Haven't heard the new record yet. I think you'd probably only find leaked copies of it around these parts.
