Man, this thread took a great turn.

Been doing a mostly vegan diet for over a decade now. Love it. These days i won't deny myself food that isn't vegan if i want it, but that usually only extends to baked goods, or non-dairy/non-meat dishes my room mates cook that might have some small amount of eggs or bullshit in it. 99.9% of the food i eat is vegan though. I would love cooking vegan meals even more if i wasn't cramped up all day in the kitchen of a vegan restaurant prepping the baked goods, but alas, so it goes.

Spring thru early autumn i try to do a majority raw foods and always feel better for it. It involves a wildly different style of prep when you're not cooking things, but it is possible to make such good tasting cashew creams and other tasty shit.

And Mushrooms are my absolute favorite foods. Gonna cook some oyster mushrooms in pasta today, most weeks i will eat mushrooms in meals more than a few times. Hen of the Woods and Chicken of the Woods are two favorites, but Morels, Chanterelle mushrooms, Beech, Bunapi, Reishi, ughughugh. One time found wild Chanterelles at a fucking highway rest area on the way home from surgery. Did not harvest them, for obvious reasons, but i was thrilled just to get to find them.

geez i've got some digging to do, all i've found around here are common mushrooms (at least the bigger portobello are cheap, for grilled portobello burgers), or dried japanese and singaporean stuff.

Hen of the woods are also known as maitake, they are a personal favorite. Chicken of the woods are amazing fried up, great consistency (chicken-ish, i suppose) and flavor (mushroom-ish and highly seasonable).

backwardsvoyager wrote:+1 on the grazing thing, i used to have pretty bad eating problems (over-eating then fasting for considerable periods to compensate) and it feels so much nicer just grazing on nutritious stuff all day (some days i eschew meals for just having a salad sandwich every couple of hours).

i'm technically pescetarian; i'll always eat seafood because i love it and in most cases it's healthier and more ethical to farm than dairy and eggs, but it's usually too expensive for me so i just use tuna as a staple.

proper sushi is amazing, and can be pretty hard to find. i still don't quite understand why you can get tuna cooked in a tin for chump change but if you want it raw you're paying astronomical prices. raw tuna is beautiful.
Yeah, I've had raw tuna and it is delicious. Such a unique flavour and texture. You can't find it anywhere else.

I don't think I'd have any major moral qualms with catching my own fish and eating them every now and again. And I know it's healthy. I take supplements to replace the amino acids found in fish. I'm on B12, D3 (vegan variety), and Kelp for iodine. I also like to add hemp and chia seeds to my meals, as well as linseed.

Does anyone else wonder if they changed their name because of this thread? Remember when you'd google them and this was like #3 in the search results?

Bro, a good beard oil is a must! :)

I thought of this thread because of Talkbutt. Someone was saying how Prymaxe was being slow about giving them back their 500 dollar refund on shit they sold them and never sent. Which of course TB people are defending Prymaxe.

Would be funny if true, but more likely because the name confused people. After all, there was nothing vintage about their inventory. They probably got hit up with tons of want-to-buy requests for vintage Pauls & Strats.
