what'd'ja think? did you end up reading it in Englits or Swissy Mumbles?

i liked the series a lot. i LOVE how you can tell that Larson wants Blombquist to be THE MAN, since it's basically an author avatar, but then realized if he didn't make it more Lisbeth-centered it'd piss off everybody that really loves her character. 'cause she's way more interesting.

i likedededed the Craig movie a lot. thought the og Swedish ones were shit.

Dutch, cause it was a loaner, I prefer to read English.

Agreed, the first half I was mainly waiting for the story to shift back to Lisbeth rather than just reading about different Vangers. Then it picks up, though it could've been more graphic in some places. Good enough that I'll eventually snag the others from someone at some point.

Love these books. Finally convinced my mom to read them about a year ago.

Craig played Blomkvist well. He was the right choice for the character.
The Swedish versions were very good though. Hard to beat them when they left pretty much nothing out. You can tell the American one had to be more censored, for lack of a better word, to get in theaters.

huh. see, what i hated about the Swedey ones was they kinda raped the characters. i forget her name, Erika? but Blomquist's editor/squeeze was a cool character. and she was a mewling pushover in the Swede version. i thought the acting was meh, filmwork was cheesy, Lisbeth was a'ight but i like Roony a looooot more.

and i dig on non-US films. just not that series. murrrrr?

I guess it's just preference. I wasn't a huge Roony fan, so the Swedish actress was better IMO. It's kind of amazing how similar the actors playing Blomkvist look though.
Maybe if they ever finish the American versions it will prove differently. The second and third book were pretty dense, so it'll be interesting to see how they deal with them.

Just found out that Ender's Game is being made into a movie for November of next year, so I gave the audiobook another listen (last time was about 10 years ago). Getting into the rest of the series now (Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, Ender's Shadow, etc), and the marvel comics.
SPOILER : show

Let Me In is awesome. the other one he did about (sorta) Zombies is really interesting too. he reminds me of the Daywatch series, but all blissed out on opium.

The Norwegian film is Let the Right One In, the American re-make is Let Me In. The book has been marketed in the U.S. under both titles I believe, but it's the same book regardless.

Thanks, Dark Barn. I meant the original. I rarely have any interest in American remakes.

i'm with you on that. but both version of that move are actually worth watching. it's kinda like the Adaptation of Watchmen into film, i loved the OG Norwegian film, and they changed things in just enough ways to make it more like it happened with American people, but it totally captured the feel of the original.

but i have a film-crush on Hit GrrL. i'm really curious about the Carrie remake coming up.

I'm reading a book by that dude that got the nobel prize. Mo Yan. It's much better than I expected actually. Pretty funny and weird in an enjoyable way. He does many things that make me wonder if they are cultural or just him making jokes. For example he likens all the character's faces to food. (His face looked like a dumpling before it gets boiled.)

Looked it up, the english translation is called The Republic of Wine.
