I think last year it opened up at the beginning of October, so we're at the cusp of it now.
Really there's only two months, October and November, because it has to get there by Christmas.
So you'd probably want to send it at the beginning of December, or close to it.
People are just excited.

If that means anything.
If it doesn't to others, it does to me.
I don't think 3 months in advance is too soon really. Especially for me. Getting pedals and what not (most likely) from the US and sending 'em back out for Xmas is bound to take 4-6 weeks. And I'd like to have some stalking time as well

No seriously. I freaking love that stuff. Had some French roomies years ago when I was studying and of the dudes' parents seemed to think that he would starve in Sweden, so his mum regularly sent saucisson in the mail, including what I remember being saucisson corse.

I'm not sure if it's actually about starving abroad but this stuff is so important in our culture. Make it cheese, charcuterie, foie gras, wine or ACTUAL bread. When I'm abroad or far from home I really look for this stuff to get a piece of it for a moment. Most common treat is a pack of Petit Lu which is a biscuit that was actually invented and mass produced in my town before it became another Kraft Foods product. The main advantage of Kraft is that you can find their stuff pretty much everywhere and I was so happy when I bought a pack while I was in Germany. I didn't miss home when I went to Spain or Italy though, it's pretty much la casa, we eat very similar stuff, talk loudly and move our hands a lot while doing so. A famous French writer, Jean d'Ormesson often says that Italians are pretty much happy Frenchies. Don't get me wrong, Germans are nice and I actually fit in with them pretty alright, it's just that so much stuff is different that it's nice sometimes to get a sense of where you left your heart. I know it's silly but I really do feel love towards la patrie républicaine.
