Expensive free beer is bad because it should be free, but it's expensive. Free expensive beer is decidedly better, as it should be expensive but is free. You definitely got free expensive beer. Expensive free beer would have been if you had to buy the guy a pint of West End Lager and pay 10 dollars for the privilege. If you've ever drunk it in South Australia you'd know that no rational person would pay for that crap.
