well, shit.
Or maybe people here have ridiculous budgets and $4000 on a PLL seems good?

What's with the lack of love towards DBA? I never owned any of their stuff but always liked the designs are they constructed like an old Devi Whatever pedal?

My understanding from posts on here was that, yes, they were constructed like that, but not always, or something?

The older stuff was built like shit from what I've seen. It got better over the years, but not sure to what extent.

Wasn't this the serial number PLL that was stolen? Or am I thinking of #12? :O

I've found some really good deals from these guys recently. This is their last NIB Kilobyte, $148 shipped in the US (down from $199).

In short, really awful soldering/wiring jobs.
The new stuff is slowly getting better (as in, getting better over a period of several years), but the old stuff looks like it was made by someone who never learned how to solder or even populate a board.
To make it (slightly) worse. A majority of the older stuff is made with floating perfboard. So, when you consider that stuff like that is being sold for ~$600-1000, you can understand why there's so much grumbling about it.

Nailed it.
Also, space, this has always been about 50/50 in favor of the absurd shit and the good deals -- not surprising that it's shifted towards the former, since we have a lot more lurkers these days. I know if I see something that a fuzzbreaux has been talking about/lusting over I'll low-key shoot them a PM, rather than broadcast it out here.

Youp. I'm part of a "psssst, check this out" group as well. Check with them if they're interested first, then share with the rest of ILF. Ninjas in the bushes, snipers on the rooftops.

I snatched up a newer Fuzz War with a non-functioning tone knob. Opened it up, and turns out only one of the three lugs of the pot had any solder applied
I'm no ace solderer, but I was able to apply the actual solder needed in nicer dollops than what looks to be the case for the majority of the lugs on the switch up top.
To top it all off, the inside of the back plate had a date of 04/01/xxxx

I'm still sad I didn't buy a frantone glacier, instead of posting it here for a random to get. It was gone right after

I think Fran plans on building more Glaciers. They'll be relatively expensive, but probably worth it. Not no "sweet shit on eBay".

I will give DBA credit for making a true diode ring modulation pedal for guitar. Something unique that doesn't happen much.
I'd buy a glacier if reissued. Always seemed like a nice pedal to me.

I think this one was $150 shipped

It was around $180 but I had to buy the right adapter for it . . . but I totally plan to keep it in the ILF family as much as possible! I sold a Randy's Revenge I got on ILF to an ILF'er to be able to justify buying the Glacier.
But yes I will totally list it here if I'm gonna let it go. I found out about it on ILF, and I intend to let discerning connoisseurs of bell-like microtonality know when it needs to go to another home
