I mean one dude was trying to sell me on SMD...said from his perspective it is the best we have with the highest quality control...I was like, "yea, don't care" to myself..
For pedals with extensive circuitry, yeah, it makes sense (on a number of levels), but, yeah, I don't wanna be anywhere near pedals like that.

Oh man...it was funny...he was selling it to me like it was the hot new thing...but I know it shaved the pedal down in price and size...so I guess it makes sense. Was just funny hearing that in a pitch haha.

- Maybe a purple one in there...?
I was looking at the Reverend website earlier. There's a Corgan sig model that comes in purple.

Thank whoever I didn't look to hard and see the Corgan...Sorry to all the smashing pumpkin fans, but can't stand the guy or that guitar (my wife loves SP, but laughs every time she sees him haha...dude is creepy with his attitude and hired hand bass player candy that he can't seem to do without...just weird.).

the HHBPC aspect is a little weird, for sure, but I feel like anything that gives some Pumpkins money to Melissa Auf Der Maur/Paz Lechantin/et. al is at least doing some good.

I heard St. Vincent play it at the Hollywood Bowl...sounded like an eventide pedal, haha.
Because she played it through Eventide pedals, or is this some joke I'm not in on?

- They looked really nice and had their builders their showing their craft (doing finish work on site...I guess it is a little hokey because they really can't make a mess, but they looked like they really cared about the setup of their guitars).
That looks like it could have been inspired by the Gibson Marauder, but with an exaggerated horn and better pickups. It's sort of like a Fender/Marauder hybrid. According to legend the Maruader was supposed to become Paul Stanley's signature guitar, but he hated it so much that he would only use it for finales and encores, so he could smash it every night. A couple of fan blogs state he didn't even play it most nights, but just kept it onstage as a sacrificial prop. I was never a KISS fan, but that report always cracked me up.

Didn't Gibson reissue the Marauder a few years back?

I knew it looked familiar. Thanks man. Up close it kinda gave some LP Jr double cutaway vibe...but I was probably thinking marauder in my head haha (it is probably more the color than anything). Cheers!

Yea, haha, bad joke sorry. But she played three different ones at that show...I think she had a white one. But she did make a comment that she didn't have to change anything on the amp settings or effect settings when switching from the bobkats(which, first time we saw her she only used on the two first songs of the newest album) and Albert Lee (which she still used at the Hollywood Bowl). So I just guess it will be something like an Albert Lee?

I feel like someone in a really crappy band like a Sum 41 or Good Charlotte started using them, so rumblings of a reissue may have circulated, but it never materialized into anything under the original name. The Marauder and the L6-S were 70s Gibson experiments to compete with Fender in the bolt-on neck, budget guitar market. To some people they were an abomination, but they did find their way into the hands of some punk/post-punk/experimental outfits like the Buzzcocks and Sonic Youth.
Fender did a guitar briefly called the Modern Player Marauder. The lower horn is sharp and stubby, which reminds me of the top horn of a Burns Nu-Sonic. It's sort of between that sharper Nu-Sonic contour and the blunted slope of a Fender Toronado. Without seeing it in-person to really gauge length, the top horn on Fender's Marauder seems more P-bass than Strat to me. It's obviously a kind of evolution of the Jazzmaster/Jag lineage, but personally I never saw the appeal of stuff like the Jaguarillo or the Cyclone. Fender's just never really seemed committed to introducing a new cornerstone model. They just stick to their greatest hits (Strat/Teles) and then every couple of years they bastardize one of their surf guitars and throw some cheap hardware on there---
voila! $399 south-of-the-border surprise!
(Fender Marauder)
(1964 Burns Nu-Sonic)
(Fender Toronado)

Took these mostly for my wife. They looked way nicer in person than I thought they would. The finish on these look much nicer than the finish on the Fenders I have played and the Gibsons I saw at NAMM...but they are expensive...I guess you should expect quality for the price.
He's one of the best guitar wankers in the business is why.

I don't really care about shredding, but even I can be a bit slackjawed at the shit he does. Not as much as I am with Tosin Abasi, but that dude stopped playing human guitar in favor of some mutant variant I can't wrap my head around.

I was just being a smart ass about John P man haha. Certain people, I feel, are sometimes more famous for gear than their actual music haha. At least it feels like that sometimes...just being goofy.
