I wouldn't agree that the air is out of the balloon, but it's become a fairly predictable cycle. The prices creep up when pre-orders are closed, and then the prices spike right before a new batch and immediately after. I won't be surprised at all to see this week's $325 CT5s turn into $375 in March. There are definitely more in circulation right now, which is leveling things off a bit, but I don't see it as a permanent change, unless Scott changes his model and starts cranking out far more units.

It's an instant gratification society, and people are still paying above retail, because they can't be bothered to wait 2-3 months for the next batch to be completed. If/when Scott ceases producing the CT5 to accommodate other designs, then I can only imagine the stupid prices people will pay for them.

I saw that guy yesterday. I believe that's his second attempt. You may think he's an insane jerk, but what if the rest on Reverb sell out and he's the last remaining seller? He may end up getting $450 from an overseas buyer. The pedal game is weird like that. ----Or maybe he doesn't want to sell it, and he's just goofing off. He's sitting at home thinking to himself, "I'm manipulating this tiny market. I don't want to sell this thing, but if someone is actually willing to pay, this blue box is headed out the door tomorrow."

A few years ago a guy listed an Infanem Faye's Her for about $900, and I laughed at that. It ended up selling, and I sat there thinking to myself, "Damn, maybe if I had listed mine for $800, I'd have $800 right now." I ended up selling mine a few months later to pay some bills for about $575. I no longer thought that guy was an idiot for asking, what I had deemed such an unreasonable price.

I laffed when Shnobel bought that Camel Toe for 4K, did a demo video of it & flipped it for 8K shortly thereafter - all for collectability! But if somehow Clapton uses a CT5 w/a Miku stomp on his next tribute-to-my-heroes record, I hope everyone here becomes zillionaires.

It's weird to gauge spending behaviors on the used market - we all laugh at TGP, but there's at least twice more of them than there are of us on this forum (how many J. Rockett Archers do you think ILF goes through on a weekly basis vs. how many are listed on Reverb each day?), and all of whom have the cash to enable themselves into most of anything at anytime - which is totally fine!, as long as they keep selling off all the weirder stuff cheap once the buyer's remorse sets in :hobbes:

I'm curious to see what this goes for as well. Even if I do use mine quite a lot, I could get a lot of cool shit for $750

George Tripps only made 25 of them by hand pre-Dunlop - it's a Way Huge Red Llama & Green Rhino in one big enclosure, w/ a series/parallel switch between them. Mike Campbell from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers uses/tours with one, adding to the mythical status somewhat - rumor-mill ca. 2011 posited that Dunlop was to reissue it as a signature pedal (the Campbell Tone), which never happened. Super silly stuff, especially since both the Llama & Rhino are still in production ($100 each, new) & since they're basically modded versions of other easily DIY platforms (the Craig Anderton Tube Sound Fuzz & a Tube Screamer). That poo-brown enclosure, tho?

A few Spectres up on Reverb - 3 or 4 listed just today at/around $299 OBO, most mint & obviously first run, along with a few more CT5s for around the same price or less (tax season is upon us). :excellent:

I love these "full board" sales

Like there's a guy somewhere with $6k burning a hole in his pocket who wants to start getting into effects. :thumb:
