This is the first video I've seen of the Empress Reverb.

20 reverb algorithms, 35 presets, true or buffered bypass option for trails

Since there are only 12 modes labeled, I would guess that there might be 2 algorithms for each of the standard (4) modes on the right (hall x2, plate x2, spring x2, room x2)

Didn't go to NAMM this year but my colleague did. Asked him to send me some pictures of pedals. He did not disappoint: https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0SGWZuqDGvwJ3y

Truly a golden age! And these are just companies that can afford to go to NAMM.

Tree Audio Tube Hybrid Consoles
  • Don't know much about them, but they looked so bad ass. Like something out of a Cold War Era tank. Really freaking neat and huge.
Image
New Magnatones
  • I heard the head being played. It had some good volume and it really sounded awesome. Thought they looked super nice too.

Analog Outfitters Image
Phil Jones Bass
  • Don't know anything about them, but this amp looks like it was from a hi-fi console of a spaceship that landed in the 1970s...they weren't really demoing it when I walked by (like 100 times because it was by the entrance). 12x4" bass amp?

Crazy Verellen Amp
  • Thought I had more pictures of it...but no. Verellen guy I didn't really see to ask about it. But it was crazy looking. And I am guessing that is a volume knob. Thanks fever....it is the hifi amp

That Verellen is his "hi fi" stereo amp...

PS: Thanks for all the rad NAMM coverage, dude! Did you happen to swing by Analog Industries' booth? I'm super curious how the Fluid and FreqShift pedals sound...

Nah, I didn't see them. Some places were kind of hard to find and there was a ton of stuff. Also, a lot of the pedal builders were in combo booths (like the Guild from ILF) so sometimes it got hard to see. And I was also the low man on the totem pole you know. So people were looking for certain badges to spend time with (which totally makes sense...so sometimes I had to kinda wiggle in to see what was going on). I couldn't find the Catalianbread booth either...I don't know what was up with that haha...like I looked and looked :idk: . So sometimes I would kinda walk by and miss things because the booth was way smaller than I expected. Teenage Engineering was really small.

Thanks for the id on the amp though, I kind of had the thought that is what it was. It was 4 floors and I only got to go two days (and had to leave early for traffic :(  )

Chasebliss Tonal Recall
  • I believe I heard it and it was brighter than other analog delays. I think the modulation sounded very chorus-y (but you know...probably just a snippet of what it can do). Sounded very clean. At least I hope that was what I was listening to. They always had a dude just sitting there holding a guitar. Kinda like they had demoers, not free reign. Joel seemed awesome though by giving everyone his time.

New Wren and Cuff
  • Sonder Trem/Chorus and that other one that I don't know anything about. They looked really cool with the art and matte finish. Really freaking neat. No information on their website yet though.

How would you compare the Tonal Recall to the In Limbo II?

I thought the In Limbo II was more traditional sounding, but had some neater modes that the chase bliss can't do. Probably a hair darker and rounder sounding too. But it sounded awesome. I didn't really get to hear either for too long. I liked how the in limbo kinda sounded better, but you know, I didn't have them head to head. (And really get to see someone mess with the full range of DIP on the Chasebliss). I dunno, for the features, unique modes, and the way I like delays, I think the In Limbo's features Plus it is significantly cheaper). The Chasebliss did sound nice and cutting though (like I said, I only heard it briefly though...).

That's fair, I'm just curious at all since I just bought an In Limbo II because the CBA price had my head spinning. The dip switches are always a game changer, but I enjoy the modulation section of the In Limbo a ton more. Good to know you like the In Limbo more, even if you only heard it a little. Super excited to get mine in the future.

Nice, I just look at the W&C Facebook and found these:

A bit of departure in graphic style for 'em. They look great though. Matt's pedals always sound great too. :snax:

That Magnatone looks good too.

Ibanez
  • Coolest thing they had was the minis...they were really pushing the acoustic side of their business and the icemans. Wouldn't let you touch anything. Heard someone talking that they are looking to change direction with some of their stuff soon (this was in the acoustic room I think)...they had a bunch of weird acoustic guitar effects/amps that I didn't really care about. Seriously looks like the same line they have had for 20+ years..super strats, etc. Heavy Metal! (and steve vai )

Kemper Profiler
  • Been hearing a lot about this...doesn't really interest me at all though. Mission makes a special exp pedal for it though... :idk: . Seems like an amp modeler. They seemed to attract more of the pro-audio and church-y people (which I guess makes sense).
