Nine super cute asian-ninja chicks wearing nothing but knee-high velcro boots and wielding chainsaws, and one of them has a weed whacker with a 10" round saw blade for variation. Fighting a three story tall + wide demon with a voice like a concrete saw run thru a half dozen Orange OR120 stacks. On a velcro field. With a huge multiversal crowd in the backround roaring it's bloodlust in a hundred different languages, 80% of which would make a human's head explode if they tried to mimic the sounds.

That's the sound of fuzz in my mind.

Fuzz is...it's like this.

This is something I've though about a lot and tackled in my own art. Trying to create a visual that's an accurate descriptor of the electric guitar in general. Which has been shown as everything from a bird, to a wallpaper made of circuit schematics, to a jack a lope.

Lately I think I've really figured it out though. I was high with my brother a couple of years back, and we were driving home from dinner and I could feel all my thoughts and ideas pouring out of my head and rising up like antlers. I really got a sense for a cloud that surrounded my head, containing all my thoughts, and manifesting themselves as tree limb like antlers. When I play guitar I try and remember that feeling, and instead of letting the cloud rise around my head, I try and imagine pushing that cloud, those antlers, through my fingers, through the strings, through the pick ups, through the fuzz, and then finally letting them burst out of the speaker cabinet.

So let's say that the clean electric guitar is almost like branches reaching out from the amp and growing up towards the ceiling. What's fuzz then? Well fuzz takes those branch like antlers and makes them dissipate into a multi-colored smoke like fog, that rolls up and blooms out of the antlers. The antler grows out, it blooms into smoke, blooms into a cloud. But those clouds, and antlers are directly affected by my emotions that I'm pushing through the guitar and to the amp. They grow and dissipate, and regrow, and reanimate, and pulse and move.

When I play with delay and a fuzz, I can get a real sense for it, it's strange. The delay pulsing, and the gritty heft of the fuzz. Most people think of fuzz as this real ragged monster, but I tend to see it more elegant, more natural.

If I hadn't given away all my drawings, I could have taken photos I guess...

yeah, it depends on the fuzz.

i see a heavily pixelated scribble moving really quickly. kind of like a 15 frame dust cloud made in mspaint with a 1 pixel brush.

I always have cosmic imagery in my mind when I play. Fuzz can be comets, sunrises in space, explosions and Jupiter. The red spot has to sound massive, droning and out of control
