I like where your heads at. My favorite thing about MPCs (aside from you know handling basic sampling and being a epic sequencer) you can freakily scramble a sample using velocity -> start point, I usually just build a track off of whatever magic comes out of that.

When you get another MPC 500 to sequence your MPC 500.....

Transylvania 6-5000?
also worra picked up a Ciat Lonbarde Cocoquantas a little while ago. Not really "best standalone sampler" territory, but it looks dope and makes cool sounds.

Chiming in just to say that I m keeping an eye open on this thread because I ve been looking for a simple sampler for a while but everything I find is either too limited (volca sample could be my cup of tea if sample length was not so short), lacks of essential functions (model:sample is really what I want but the lack of direct recording options cuts it out of the game) or too overcomplicated (went through the Digitakt Manual multiple times, amazing machine, could solve my sequencer needs too, but I could never memorize all those functions).

But that's what I like about the digitakt, there's not really much need to memorise much?
All the controls are written on the face of it, including the shift functions. So the memorisation is minimal, as far as I see it. Though of course there are some deeper things, when we're comparing it to the model samples and the volca samples, since those functions that are harder to access are way beyond what either of those can do, it seems like a weird comparison.
It has a big manual because it does a lot, but it may be a bit more instructive in terms of
how easy it is to use in order to make sounds when you pick it up to watch a tutorial video.
But as we have established different people have different tolerances for this sort of thing.

See, i really think the Digitakt has everything i need, probably i'm just overwhelmed by the fact that it has also a lot more too.
(Now that i've started messing around with the Minilogue XD I'm facing the fact that i'll probably need a sequencer in the future. The one integrated is good but 16 steps are not enough for what i want to do, so the Digitakt could solve that problem too)
