hahaha that doesn't work bro. That will get rid of the albums, but I still will enjoy the music. It's something I've like for 20 years. How do you just erase that? I'm being serious. It kind of sucks. It's like Marilyn Manson. No matter how much I want to hate his stuff, I end up listening to it.

In all seriousness, I know it's not easy to be a big fan and find out someone's just a complete shithead. It makes it difficult to walk away. Personally, I've never been tempted to listen to, say, Burzum for knowledge that Varg is just such a horrible wretched pile of vomit, but I used to listen to Down and Pantera a lot. Phil's behavior just really turned them off to me. I can't say I have a remedy for you, just my experience.

yeah pantera came on the day I found out
still love the music
and most of down
lots of the new stuff I haven't heard
but heroin fucks your shit up. bad.
you're never the same. ever.
trent made the best recovery for a pretty bad junkie in recent years I can think of.
and not sure about pepper, but he's always been a soul guide for me and his thoughts on the matter are pretty straight.
to be bigger and hope he can be humbled by this in ways he probably needs to gain perspective again
makes me like pepper even more
also. that other phil story link was highlarious.
I'm sure he's fun to be around.
we all have stuff going on but, sheesh.

"I am saddened and confused by the behavior of Philip Anselmo last week. I do not condone what was gestured and said. This lapse in judgment of 'making a joke' was in terribly poor taste and unacceptable.
"That philosophy is the opposite of what I am about. My heart follows love and soul and my music has been inspired from people of all walks of life and musical styles. I view music as a gift that is universal and intended for all of humanity. As a proud New Orleanian, life is about celebrating diversity through music, it's about bringing people together, not tearing apart.
"I won't speak for Phil but I've known him most of my life and I know there is not hate in his heart. However, I hope at this moment in time Phil will focus his energy on self-reflection and begin the process of regaining perspective, healing himself and those lives he has touched through music.
"Through DOWN, Philip and I have written many beautiful and powerful songs in the past that have touched and inspired people from all walks of life positively and have helped pull many out of their own darkest hours. This is not something I take for granted and should always be at the forefront of one's conscience to keep you grounded, humbled and grateful.
"One of the responsibilities and joys, in my opinion, of being an artist or musician is having the ability to help make the world a better place.
"I accept Phil's apology, and I believe he can.
"I'll be thereā¦if needed.
"Love and Respect."

you don't? You recognise that you still enjoy it for whatever reason despite it being made by shitty people and just deal with it?

Pep is the man.
The "P" in my sig is interchangeable with Pepper or Pike.

So glad a Caucasian friend of Phillip was good enough to forgive him.

I'm weird with this. The whole "do I listen to music made by shitheads?" thing.
Like I said before, I've never really listened to Phil's music, so whatever. I do listen to Burzum sometimes, even if Varg is a piece of shit (I tell myself that he's not spreading it in his music, so all is well there (I'll get to that)), I love Captain Beefheart even tho he was an abusive asshole according to several members of the Magic Band (different kind of shittiness than Phil or Varg, but still someone I'd go out of my way to avoid irl),and several others that I can't be bothered to list off.
At the same time, I literally can't listen to John Lennon because of the shit he did to the people in his life, and I won't listen to anyone that actively spreads racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, etc bullshit in their music because fuck them if they wanna spread that bullshit.
If they're trying to push those views outside of music (like Varg and his ties to far right groups), or they disgust me enough for how they are as a person, I'll be fine listening, torrenting, etc, but I won't support them by buying their music (which is another can of worms that I don't think should be gone into here). I dunno, this kind of thing is a complicated issue for me, and coukd possibly just be this complicated just because I'd rather not give up enjoying awesome music because the creators are pricks.

I tried to ask myself "What would Pike do?" before, but had to backtrack because local businesses wouldn't allow me in + I'm too pasty for the shirtless life.

Yeah I think that statement was more about "how to distance one's self whilst not totally burning the band that's finally making money for one". Tough line to tiptoe. I think if COC are firing back up it may mean the end of Down anyway. The last COC album was arguably better than Down's output since. If you're into that sort of thing. Which I am. And apparently decomposing is, too.
But, you're right. It is a fairly meaningless statement outside of "I really wish you hadn't have said that shit and brought Retardageddon on us all."

Can someone, please, troll him on social media by calling him "Phil And Elmo"?

Yeah, Pike knows how to make it work. Him and Iggy make it work, and look wrong if they attempt to wear shirts. I hope to be that badass someday.

To be fair, it's kinda unfair to compare anyone to Pike here. Not many people could hope to reach the god tier of shirtlessness like Pike has.

Pike's shirtless look is deceiving...its looks attainable, but still in reality only he can do it.
the perfect analogy is a low full moon...you think you can touch it, but it impossible!

So basically, we've learnt that we all need more Sleep and High on Fire in our lives?
That's the lesson here.
Phil is a dick, go and listen to Matt Pike instead.
