Literally just put $1700 into my car last week I feel your pain. I"m only keeping my head above water because I found some resources on feeding myself for $2-5 dollars a day and I'd happily give you advice/links in a PM.

Update: Through selling pedals, cutting back on Gatorade, and being employed, I've managed to come up with $600 or so. I can do it myself for that kind of money, but I am terrified of doing it alone. My dad is unreceptive to my invites, so I am trying to find someone else to come over and spend the day wrenching this thing. Or I can try to come up with another $1000.

Hope things get better for all struggling currently here 
I'm absolutely in to donate to a GFM for any ilfer! Also if anyone finds themselves in a tight place in or around Minneapolis I will absolutely put you up and if one of the rooms isn't occupied, it's all yours until you're back on your feet, I'm serious. If you're somewhat close, I've got a car and can come get anyone.
