Not even joking, i will not visit The Bay anymore, but one of the times i did, i stayed with this boy i was tryna with, and he talked a lot about moving back home after talking to his neighbor, a retirement aged black man who could no longer afford the house he had been born in. Everywhere i went in oakland andSF was just stories like that, or people working 3 jobs to pay rent on a one or two bedroom apartment they shared with 2-3 other people. NYC wasn't that bad, but it was still awful. Went back to Bed-Stuy just a few years after I left and it was luxury apartments and white utopias. Area was all latino for actual generations. but it's just so centrally located!

San Francisco is a godless toilet and I fucking hate that vacuous wasteland. A guy I grew up with moved there for grad school and stayed afterward. He had been encouraging me to look into SF for copywriter jobs and things like that. So I flew almost 2000 miles from Nashville to the Bay, and everywhere I went, all I saw was segregation. Every neighborhood was like a different country----all Russian, all Japanese, all Chinese, or young WASPs. The only time I saw mixed groups were when I saw high school kids walking home from school. Everyone was so insulated. To top it off, the woman whom I had been corresponding with for months stood me up. She just stopped communicating with me after I made special arrangements to fly cross-country to explore a new city and a possible new relationship. ---I don't like people. I have a hard time finding individuals who are thoughtful or kind, but no city better exemplifies indecency, arrogance, class warfare, or the privilege of extreme wealth like San Francisco. Going on two years later and I still think about that horrible woman every time I see the Golden Gate Bridge. Do you know how fucking hard it is to avoid one of the most iconic landmarks in the world? It's everywhere! It's on travel blogs, ad banners, news coverage, et cetera, et cetera. I just mumble to myself, "Fucking one-percenters. What kind of horrible, monstrous individual stands someone up, when they're 2,000 miles from home in a city where they know basically no one?" That woman is a total shit, and my feud with SF is not going to end anytime soon.

Please don't get all SJW up in here. Gentrification is fucked but people do have agency and can't blame everything on circumstances supposedly outside of their control. There are a lot of fucking whack jobs in the bay. Of every color and class.

The funny thing is how SJW just gets used as a blanket to dismiss any leftist or post leftist critiques. It's wildly inaccurate. Sorry bud, I fucking hate social justice. First of all, it is just some reformist, recuperative shit that thinks the road to salvation is fighting for rights and state recognition. I do not believe in reifying the state. Second of all, social justice believers are a bunch of wet blanket pseudo-liberals constantly bowing and scraping to the "most oppressed" voice without an ounce of insight, awareness, critique, or self-reflection. fuck that, fuck pretend justice. There is no singular, homogenous black/female/gay/trans/poor/whatthefuckever experience, no matter how much these people pretend. Also, I have known actual social justice types. They hated me.
