And those noise dentists have the advantage of sampling their drills by day and then mixing those samples into their sets at night.

Ah man, imagine the sound of a dentist drill on a tooth amplified to gig volume.
That is truly nightmare inducing.

And I kinda wanna do it.

I heard some music once made by a plastic surgeon using the sounds of face bones being grinded and chiselled and whatever else they do. It sounded awesome and creepy at the same time.

I've mentioned this before but there have been swaths of hipsters frequenting heavy shows in my home town lately.
I suppose it was a matter of time.
neonblack wrote:You can thank Deafheaven for that.
Is it because they got some love on Pitchfork or something? Plenty of heavy bands receive rotation on Pitchfork. On top of that Pitchfork streamed the new Pallbearer record (which fucking kills) so it certainly isn't singular. It's all about making a little more of the almighty dollar.

Doom is definitely the cool guy movement right now, sure, but the majority of the fine folk who hang out at the ILF Doom Room have been into heavy music for a long time, and not just doom. Stoner rock, Doom, Punk, Hardcore, Grind, Power Violence, hell, even bands like pg.99 and City of Caterpillar are loved in our blessed (by the dark lord himself) community.

This is all the truth^.

Noise dentists, beware. We can smell the flouride-drenched sadist wannabe on you from miles away.

Have you seen them? They're pretty and dress sharp (at least the frontdude). They always play to a good crowd here. A couple years ago I saw Envy play and hardly anybody showed up, but Deafheaven has a "look" and plays a watered down version of the same music and everyone goes nuts. :grumpy:

having a look is the most important part of being a musician when will you guys get that

you are a performer, half of what you do is playing live and with that comes a look whether you like it or not

I still have no idea what anyone in Deafheaven looks like and I think they are pretty dope. I guess I'll have to check out Envy then!

EDIT: Envy are great, definitely see the comparison too. I need to download their stuff when I get home.

I fell asleep during an Envy show once. It was like watching a band on tv.
