"boosts midrange, tightens up the low end, and makes the top end shine while adding some push" sounds like a Tubescreamer. Which I admittedly like, but anyway. Just wondering what you dudes are seeing. Note that I'm not saying this is a TS, or in any way related to one. Just the functional description.
Afterneath sounds rad as all get out, and as has been pointed out - wizards. Can't really go wrong with that.
I've been thinking about getting a Echoplex preamp clone to stick in a loop with my vibe to help it not get lost in the heavy fuzz (there's a TWSS in there somewhere), but at that price the Arrows kind of contends, as someone may have mentioned previously in this thread, that may be the sort of territory that it covers.
At least, that's what I thought until you pointed out the obvious. I'll wait and see, it may do what I need for cheaper (as well as looking cooler).

Definitely got to find a way to afford an Afterneath though.
Also, sigging you for wizards. :yay:

Juan Alderete's been posting pics of a mini board loaded up with new EQD offerings including these and the Palisades. I'm so hoping he's bringing it out to his in-store appearances...

You'll have to report on his in-store, I don't think he's coming anywhere near me.

He's coming here in ten days, I intend to attend, and shall report.

Oh, I'm gonna be at the PVD in-store. I've been talking to my buddy there about this for weeks now.

Ive never been to Gorham Brothers, would it be silly to drive from Rochester just to check it out plus this instore?

Juan does have all the new pedals with him, we'll have demos up early next week too. For the record, the Arrows has nothing to do with any kind of echoplex preamp. It's a simple single transistor design that is voiced to drive other drives in a pleasing manner or brighten up a neck pickup. We also keep getting emails asking how it's different than the Black Eye or Speaker Cranker, here are some short answers:

1. Black Eye is a full range mosfet booster and goes about 3 x as loud as the arrows. It will retain the full frequency spectrum and add a touch of "sparkle" due to it's high input impedance.

2. Speaker Cranker is an overdrive, not a booster at all.

As for the Afterneath, I still feel like you need to see it in use (maybe even play it) to understand it's powers.

Hope that helps y'alls!

All right, I'm gonna camp out in front of Empire Guitars next week so nobody gets ahead of me in the audience.

Not silly at all, but take that with a grain of salt since they are good friends of mine. But I think it's a killer, killer store, the best we've had in the area in the 20 years I've been going to stores around here. They have a lot of turnover and half the stuff they get never makes it online, so you never know what you'll walk into there, which is half the fun for me (also aggravating when I barely miss stuff  ). Plus they are super cool and personable, down to chat, and you can play anything in the store without hassle. Plus they have a sweet pedalboard set up with all their EQD, Walrus, and other lines they carry. Definitely worth a visit. Let me know if you come out!

Arrows sounds cool and useful, and I completely understand it now with that explanation. Sometimes when I try regular clean boosts in front of drives or dirt, they just don't sound 'good'. Either adding flab or flub or something to be desired. I think this'll be pretty awesome, having a pedal meant to specifically push dirt.

Awesome thanks man!
Didn't think arrows was related to an ep pre, I know you guys would steer clear of that, just wondering if functionally it wasn't in the same ball park.
That clears things up!
