A stingray is pretty boss with flatwounds and doesn't sound so aggressive. The flats push it back in the mix where it purrs like a big cat.

The poor man's version:

I upgraded most all the parts. Sold yesterday. It was a good exercise in building. I want to do a Bronco or Jazz with humbuckers next.
