It's funny - I tried a NoiseBox recently, and found it really useful for lead toanz. I mean, really WEIRD lead toanz, but still... I was a wee bit surprised.

my EMMA DiscumBOBulator envelope filter is creeping into more and more of my playing. i seldom use it for the typical funky quacks, which i got enough of as a Deadhead for three lifetimes...rather, i use it for everything from 60s wah-wah to sequenced synth toans to, lately, a kind of touch-sensitive substitute for modulation on parts with long reverbs. that thing just likes me.

Completely agree.

 You're the reason I ever got one in the first place. So yeah, you rule haha.

I've always thought Wah's were kinda gimmicky.

One of my favorite things is using pedals in ways that aren't necessarily "what they do."
Examples: reverb as EQ/filter, delay as overdrive, pitchshifting as noise/ring

gimmick-ness is relative to your use of it.

that being said:
my square-wave-y flanger, and my arpeggiating whammy effect on ma digitech

So, everything that the Edge uses is gimmicky, since he is a gimmick?

Awesome shit man!

What kind of pedal board is that by the way? I'm thinking of getting rid of my PT-Pro for something else.

Thanks. It's this: http://www.rondomusic.com/pdc410gmsbk.html
It's just plastic and the hinges and "locks" are pretty crappy, but it's light as hell and completely sits flat on the ground, with plenty of room to add risers on the back row. (Or whole thing, since the inch-high lip can be annoying). Oh, and the velcro it comes with sucks, and if you have to rip it up, you're just left with chipboard over the plastic. The lid does have a nice layer of foam, though. Also the little feet on the opposite side of the handle broke off. It's held up to 2 years of local gigging and a short tour, though.

I tried the PT Pro and didn't like how heavy and tall it was, although I didn't try taking off the feet.

Most of my stuff is pretty regular. I use the hold function and the self oscillation on my dd6 nearly constantly though.
