Gearmond wrote:ferreal doe, dubs chill da fuk out. even if he is a dick, thats CLEARLY not how you handle that situation from the mom's perspective. the kids either got decent scratch on his own, or his dad/mom buy him shit and are just bad parents. those are the only two situations where he could have a decent amount of good gear and still have parents that are bad at parenting. so its fairly obvious the kid isn't too bad.

kids probably just another dime a dozen metal kid, and his mom is(seems) a "y'all shucks" ol country gal who takes her frustrations out on others rather than dealing with it in a different way. know plenty of folks like that, and thats probably whats goin on. she's on the stint of "why don't you go outSIDE" or w/e outdated notion of socializing parents have and the kid clearly doesn't give a shit and from what i can gather rightly so. with the two situations above, he either doesn't give a shit because he can handle himself, or doesn't give a shit because his parents facilitate his hobby this giving him no reason to take their criticism all that seriously

i'm entirely chill, but your whole statement is blindered. there are obvious ways the kid could have good equipment without the parents being "bad parents": e.g. they could have bought him equipment conditional on good behavior and he hasn't lived up to his side of the bargain. getting to blast a half-stack in the house is a privilege, not a right. many kids have to listen to their music on headphones, you know. the parent in the initial clip may, as it appears from her tirade, just be fed up with a long-term pattern of disrespect and deliberately annoying behavior from her child. everything you say excuses the kid and lays blame on the parents; sometimes when shit goes down between parents and children, it's the kid's fault. and if, as it appears here, someone brings shit on themself by being a jerk i have no sympathy.

This is getting stupid.

We don't know what that kid's done to his mom. We don't know how he got his gear. The only arguments that can be made without blatantly making things up is whether or not parents should talk to their kids that way.

Assuming the kid is a total asshole is no different than assuming the mom is a total asshole. There's really nothing to back that up. Maybe he posted the video because he's frustrated with how his mom treats him. Maybe he posted it because he's an asshole. Either way, in my opinion, belittling your children is a terrible form of parenting that does nothing but make your kids resent you. Your opinion might be different, and that's fine, but don't pretend like you have a better view of this situation, because that's impossible.

Hmpf.

Putting that video on the internet was the worst thing anyone could've done.

I try to avoid stupid. Posting this encourages it.

Ouch that whole clip makes me uncomfortable...

Okay let me prefix this by saying I have two loud boys at home and I encourage them to make noises that are sometimes musical, in fact my 4 year old has his own mini drumset, and the other one loves to mess with my pedals while I am playing... That being said I feel bad for the mom because I know there have been brief moments where I have lost my shit with the kids and I sure as hell wouldn' t want it posted on the internet for thousands to see... You can tell that kid is just letting her go off and recording it for youtube in a passive agressive fashion.

Still, I can't condone her barrage, she is definately approaching the abuse line. I think she is like most parents who just want there kids to grow up to be well rounded individuals who can function independently as adults. I don't know if he was provoking her for an extended period of time just to catch her going off...regardless, obviously her tactic isn't working and she should find another way approach the whole lazy abnoxious shred metal teenager issue.
It does suck that all of their most horrible family moments are captured on the internet for thousands to see...

So fucking totally this.

Regardless of whether that kid is a fucking dipshit or not, you don't talk to people that way. And I'm saying this as someone who had a fucking amazingly loving supportive parent, and a completely dismissive, disrespectful unsupportive parent, and now as a parent myself. There are ways of scolding your child and correcting their behavior without becoming THAT.

Seriously, analyzing this as a parent, what purpose does that sort of tirade serve. Does she actually think that talking to him like that is going to persuade him to change his behaviors? That's the last thing it's going to do. If anything, being that insulting and disrespectful just makes people dig in to their positions and ignore everything you say.
