Yup,.....I like cars,...but I happily walk out to my 17 year old Accord SW with nearly 190k on the clock. Stick the keys in the ignition,...starts up everytime (unless the old dead alarm immobilizes it temporarily,...I need to uninstall that shit) and think to myself, Why OH WHY would I want a car payment. I already get all the pussy I want. $35k for a car,....nah.

I think I've seen some scuttlebutt about the new Impreza,...maybe a mockup or two. We'll see. I'm into old Leone/Loyales (or as dumb Americans call em,...the GLs). I'd take an EA71 or EA82 MPFI Leone any day of the week. I'd love a project like that to restore and turn into a daily driver.

It's fun to fantasize about what kinda car I'd buy if I wanted to go into debt.

Hey I love my 88 Dakota more than any other vehicle I've owned. Took a bit to get it to starts every time status, but now it's a beast and it runs well. Sure I'd love to own something that gets better gas mileage, but in all honesty, I love old trucks. It's fire engine red and its got bigger snow tires on the back than I'll really ever need, but man it's so much fun to punch it and go roaring down the road. I'd love to stick a v8 in it, but I'm in college lol.

I used to drive old 2WD trucks,....just little compact Isuzus and Nissan/Datsun. They get the job done and handy if you are in a band. Only think is in this town,...I'd rather have FWD or AWD/4WD in the winter. That said I've been thinking about buying a POS PUP for cheap just to do dump runs and haul shit for the home.

BTW Agree'd on Mitsubishi being shit. Evo,...good,...the rest bad. They probably sell some Lancers by virtue of people thinking they are gonna hot rod it into an EVO, but by the time you get done with that,...you should've just bought an EVO.

And Agree'd on the Anime,...thing.

I know I like some of it,...but there's so much out there that it's hard to keep up.

I was honestly thinking a lot about getting a 4wd, but I went with the 2wd instead because the winters here in Pueblo are pretty tame in reality, and the need to spend extra money for one, and extra money for gas was a no go since I live within super relaxing walking distance from the college. Sure it'd be nice to have a better handling truck during the winter on snow, but with the little we get, and the fact that walking in falling snow is one of my most favorite things in the world, it wouldn't be worth it.

But I'm constantly hauling my amp, bass, upright bass and whatnot all over the city, so a truck is a damn fine method of travel for me.

I've held on to my 4-banger '91 S-10 for the exact same reason. It's RWD and has 199K miles on the clock, but it's great for hauling band/PA gear, and I have the AWD for winter covered with my Subie. It was my ride for most of high school, so I've been driving it on and off for 15 years now...would kill me to get rid of it, it's like my family pet. Fortunately, it's got the 2.5L "Iron Duke" engine that just won't die, and a manual tranny.

FWIW I think the 10s look better than the Subies. Subie was doing great for the up until the redesigned the front end on the bug eyed versions of the last Generation. My favorite has always been the 22b. I agree with Joe,...Subaru has been jumping the shark the last couple of years. The only car in their current lineup I would consider buying is a Forrester. The Legacys (Outback or otherwise) and Imprezas (STi or otherwise) look like shit to me.

Youre talking about the turbo lag? Eu evos are completely different from those we get in the states. That said id still prefer a scooby.

Manuals FTW. Fun fact. My Accord Station Wagon is one of only 200 Manual Wagons sold throughout that generation (so I've been told). If I see another wagon from the same gen (5th BTW,...CE1 vin code) I can be assured that it's an auto and hence,....they are lesser of a man. I have a feeling the body will rust away before that engine gives out (in my car).
