My relationship with Burlington Guitar & Amp never took off. Too bad though, 'cause it's a nice little shop.

Burlington can't handle this stuff. It is a nice little shop though. Who stocks Fairfield in NYC?

Hey Guillaume, awesome playing on clip #2 (is that you playing guitar?).
In clip #1 we ear your clean tone a bit... sound good too... which guitar and amp you are using?

If you have a release date and a price that would be cool... I love surprise... I need one.

Thanks :thumb:

Syl, no it's not me playing. It's Pierluc Clément, a good friend of mine. The same dude who plays on all my demos.
Projects he's working on, or has worked on...
http://jenvoie.bandcamp.com/
http://fetnat.bandcamp.com/

The second clip is 2 separate tracks that we stuck together, worked out nicely. On the 1st and 2nd clip, he was playing a Fender Musicmaster. On the 3rd, he was using a Switch, this oddball 80s shredder guitar made of fiberglass. The amp used was a Peavey Bandit 65, it has a great clean tone.

Price and release are both being played out. I'm hoping to have it out by Halloween, but I'm having trouble settling on a few design elements. Roughly in the same price range as the Barbershop ($175). I'll be offering an early bird special, save a few bucks and get a t-shirt kind of deal.

Any idea when the pre-order will happen on these, and the pre-order price?

I think this is such a unique sound...

fairfield wrote:The Unpleasant Surprise is a strange beast, hard to control and even harder to explain. Think of it as losing all dynamics, there's either a wall of sound coming at your ears or nothing at all, no in between. I'm getting some samples together to give a little taste of it's fury. The switches are loosely labelled G(ain), C(omp) and T(one). Onset is a gate threshold and gain all wrapped into one, particularly useful when the US is preceded by dirt pedals. Design ain't final yet, might be some slight changes. It sounds great with bass too, if you're into nasty bass lines.

@Guillaume, With the G(ain) switch... can you get a clean gated sound out of the US (kind of lo-fi gated clean sound)?

That last sample needs to be made into a song!

@Sylnau,

Absolutely not. No clean sounds here. All or nothing baby!

The opamps in the circuit are operating under severe stress which causes them to react in unexpected ways. They lock up when not enough signal is present creating a gate effect. For this to happen though, the gain has to be through the roof. This results in a very un-guitar-like feel where your dynamics are reduced to 2 states: silence or big ugly square wave.

@hazelwould and others,

Pre-ordering with all its glory will be announced shortly, just be sure to be on our mailing list or like us on facebook to get the memo.
